As a person who plays both the Irish bouzouki and the bodhran I can say that this is just another example of how wonderfully talented these people are. The bodhran player's contribution is perfect and if it looks like he's working up a sweat well, it's because the music is moving him and he's having a good time playing it. I often feel that way when I'm playing and if it shows, so much the better.

Buddy Guy, mighty bluesman, was watching Danu play from backstage at the Winnipeg Folk Festival when I was host. Donncadh had finished the first set of reels playing on Uilleann pipes and switched to bodhrán for the next set. As that set ended Buddy turned to me and said “If I had that guy I could replace my whole rhythm section.” Truly, Donncadh transcends genres.

At the exception of the Chieftains, i've never heard any band that has a crisp irish flute sound like this...and I mean wtf...how can he still be standing after expending so much air?? This song is plain awesome. I love these guys.

Wow! That's so beautiful, that flute sounds so full and the players great. I saw these guys playing in a house party on the seafront in Aberystwyth after a show; they were completely pissed but it was amazing, where my love for the accordian began : )

@felipebonniwell Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh has been Danu's lead singer since about 2003. She is the best female singer I've ever heard. she plays flute (and whistle) as well as she sings.

No, it's not a baroque flute. Baroque flutes had only an Eb key, and Tom's flute has a least a long after key and a few others (hard to see). As the flute does not appear to have a C foot, and does not appear to be fully keyed (again, hard to see), which would make it chromatic, I would peg this flute as one of the contemporary descendents of the 19th century flutes which are sometimes called "Irish flutes".
