A stadium full of people singing this at an Irish national team home rugby match will send shivers down your spine. They don't need a haka.

I’ve never been to Ireland but I grew up in a very Irish neighborhood here in Queens, NY. A lot of my neighbors were from Kerry so hearing this song brings me back to my childhood. Erin Go Bragh!!!!

JD Proctor , I also grew up in Queens NY. My neighborhood was mainly Irish too. My mom grew up in Ireland and played Irish music on the radio and on our record player. I grew up listening to this music so hearing this beautiful choir takes me back to our apartment and listening to my mom singing along to the music. 🇨🇮

After 14 years being sung, is today the day this song finally enters our full consciousness? I was in the Aviva stadium for Ireland v Scotland and the rendition that day was stirring. Watch Peter O'Mahony sing it he believes in the words and the unity and respect within it's lyrics. Beautiful rendition from this UCD choir!

hi, we (German vocal ensemble) want to sing this beautiful arrangement. The rhytmic lyrics between the verses seem to be gaelic. Can somebody please write them down here for me, so we will hopefully find the right pronunciation too. Thank you for your help! :-)

politically dodgy..
@thomasfeck1887 жыл бұрын
Why dodgy? Think about the context (historical, Background of the original writer/singer, and so on) respect it for it as it is and dont fall into the prejudice of "political correctness". It is allways a pleasure to be gentle to another human being - but dont overstretch this gentleness into a compulsive behaviour that censores all free words and meanings.

I wepr. Think of those brave Irishmen who answered the call to fight alongside British soldiers against the Nazis. They fought a more horrible evil than the evil the British had done to them. Many were scorned. But they could look back on their life, as my father could, knowing they were instruments of God's peace. Would that we all answer "Ireland's Call."

+*Georgiana McFinnor* What does Gaeilge have to do with this song? (At least, as it's presented here.) Besides, if you were truly rooted in the Irish language, you'd know to call it "Irish" and not "gaelic".

Hate the militant nationalistic tone of this song. Fighting has made very many unhappy, Ireland should not be proud of that. It is musically very beautiful though, sublimely sung.
@64MDW8 жыл бұрын
There are things a whole lot worse than fighting when its appropriate...like the cowardice of doing nothing to vanquish evil. Defending the weak and what's right is never wrong, no matter the circumstances.

jepz11 So,being an independant country with self-determination isn't worth fighting for? As that was the only way to GET that independence? Please your majesty,we don't want to be part if your united kingdom any longer? Not likely.The US had to fight for its freedom.The Scots tried.No people or country has ever won free of oppression by appealing to the moral sense of those who withhold that freedom.Ireland has every right to be proud of winning their independence.
