It does, but not in the way you and the others who've replied to you probably think it does. The entire movie is about challenging gender norms. Mulan had to pretend she was a man. Li Shang fell in love with her while he still thought she was a man - and it happened during this song. The second time this song was played was when Ling, Yao and Po dressed like women.

There is a lot of controversion about it..... but the controversy is about Mulan in fact not beeing Han Chinese but Mongol or suppressed ethnic group that a million are still in jail apparently that we in the west never hear of. But there is no controversy about the feminism aspect of the storyline: the new movie is not holding back on that part: that females arent just to be counted as half a man is something most around the world agree on: so its not tabou to mention the past in films: as it has a happy ending (unlike Joan of Arch who was burned alive as a witch after saving France). Mulan teaches girls they can win honour if they do things. Its far worse for girls growing up thinking they should be saved by a prince and be asleep.
