Ive been in Erie most my life. Sometimes you forget what this city has to offer. Winters are long and rough sometimes. But because of that the summer's more than make up for it. When everything is up and running, its like the whole city gets together and celebrates the weather. So many activities in the summer. Car shows, block parties, festivals, fairs, sports, bike nights, etc.... I would highly recommend coming back in the summer months. Nothing quite like it.

@@mar-yk9fb Avoid what is called the lower east side. Broadly it is the area East of State Street and North of 26th Street. But the reality is the not great areas are in pockets of the city, parts of the area I described are actually quite nice. Anywhere in Millcreek or Harborcreek which are the two townships that surround the city directly are great places to be. Summit, McKean and Fairview townships are also great places and all are a very short drive from Erie proper. There are some good older neighborhoods in the city itself, Glenwood is the one that comes to mind. The area around Peach Street south of about 38th Street is also very nice and where many of the more affordable homes are. These are not hard and fast rules but it's pretty easy to figure out if an area is nice or not. Generally the areas where most houses are listed under $100k are not great parts of town.

@@charlesbass1044 The East side is horrific. I used to live there as a kid, and some guy hid a knife in our bushes. Then, there was one day where there was like some sort of fight that caused every hood member/smoker to come into the street and fight. It was terrible because they needed at least 12 police cars. We used to have yellow metal chairs that would stand on our porch and one guy took it to hit someone in the fight. My mom, being a Slav, simply walked out and took the chair from him. I'm not kidding. The East part of Erie is the literal definition of the Hood. Also, at least once a day, some car would come driving through the street rumbling the windows with how high the bass of their music is in their car. Then, there was also an incident on our street where a car flipped over because of some drunk driver. A girl was also run over on our street. I'm not sure if she's dead or not, but it was bad. There was also an incident where this underage girl took a car and with her siblings was driving down the street, and her little brother flew out the car because she was driving so fast. He died of course. There is so much I can say that it's crazy. Then, we had the occasional "friends" as children who would steal our bikes/scooters/soccer balls because their parents couldn't afford it for them. Thankfully, my cousin who saw them across the street went and yelled at them. I am telling you. It's bad there. And that's only our street. Bruh, I literally cannot

People here are open and usually very nice thou, we aren’t afraid to help someone either if needed. But visiting is great and I can recommend several mom and pop kinda restaurants. Along with little theaters. We have year round an event called Gallery Night, where galleries open for free. Also a motorcycle event that draws thousands of people to Erie each year. So visiting is very good but living not so much 🤷♀️

Erie is really 2 cities. There is winter, which is absolutely a a fine place if your enjoy winter activities. The summer however, is where we shine. The peninsula with it’s beaches with the good sand and plenty of other activities there. Also got the downtown nightlife, Waldemeer Park, shopping at Millcreek Mall, splash lagoon, the bay front and the amphitheater, baseball, and a bunch of downtown music acts each Tuesday night.
@SaltyChip2 жыл бұрын
@FlyZers in the last 20 yrs, they really started to develop properties to create the city into more of a vacation spot. They got some of the best fresh water lake beaches. The nightlife is whatever you want it to be. Want it to be a place thats blasting music and is packed, then that’s available. Or maybe you want to get a good chair at a bar and meet new people? That’s very, very available. There’s some good gay bars that no joke, has some great food. The city has a good selection for all types of people so it’s really up to you. I like having having choices available to ya instead of every club with blaring music with water downed shooters.
@SaltyChip2 жыл бұрын
@FlyZers look up state street and the the pier off off bayfront parkway. Put those two Into maps and that’s where you’ll see all the bars and restaurants and hotels. Then you have peach Street that has a lot of restaurants and a huge mall called the Millcreek Mall along with splash lagoon which is one of the biggest indoor water parks ever. And you can’t forget the Presque Isle Beaches. Beaches six and 11 are the most popular and has the best sand in the park. There is something there to do for all ages.

To answer the hunting question, given when you were here, likely duck or goose, out over the lake. Come here in November, we also have a 2 day deer hunt in parts of the state park. One my wife, daughter, son in law, and I make sure we never miss. You should come down in the summer for a week or two. The park is nice to check out then, events all through the summer, including a national level bike meet, food truck festival, an a lot more, worth checking out. One thing that drew us here, from NY, is there's always something to do here.

Nice place to visit but you can get into a rut if you live there because there's not that much to do. That's why the ski slope was packed, there are only a few within a days drive. I was born and raised there, then went back for 4 years to go to college in the 80s but haven't been back since.

Hey bro, love the video. Onw thing that I would do is go more out towards a town called Waterford. There is a lot of history in Erie actually if you read on it. There is place that gives you a full tour of Ft Leboeuf from back in the Revolutionary War. There is also a hotel that President George Washington stayed in with the original bed sheets from that night. Just I thought I would let you know some more places in this area, since I am from Erie.

Ft Lebouef was the French and Indian War and George Washington was a representative of the British sent to parlay with the French, who were also laying claim to the same land.

The state park is very nice for picnics, walking on the beach, and watching sunsets. Juniors is always fun for car shows, and Sara's is great for old school fast food. In recent years Erie has grown to embrace car and motorcycle culture with Buggin State and Roar on the Shore. And their classic tiny theme park is always fun just for people watching. I'm also a fan of how they have preserved many older buildings downtown. Very cool to see older buildings sharing city space with new infrastructure.

One other thing I'd mention about Erie from a tourist perspective: SEVERAL really good microbreweries. It's a great destination if you're a beer fiend. Erie Brewing Co 2 locations), Erie Aleworks, BrewErie, Black Monk Brewery, Voodoo Brewery, Nostrovia, The Lavery, Twisted Elk Brewery.

Hunting is mostly deer. The deer population on the peninsula can get crazy if they don't have the annual deer hunt.

I went to school in Erie. Inexpensive and nice in the summer. It has a lot of potential, meaning it really isn't that great rn.
