Shout out to the Mrs. a lot of women would refuse to help with such hard manual labor. She not only helps but is very skilled in her own right. Shame to bury that big slab of oak in the closet lol. Im 67, retired at 62 and helping build a house and barn. When your in good shape nothing is impossible; and besides, working for us is not paying a gym membership.

My wife and I switched to thin coat plaster about 45 years ago when we figured out that is saves a step. Tape Coat then Finish Coat. I know that Jesse does it the same way. Takes paint better. Once it is primed you can see the whoopsido's better.

At 22:24 i would of turned it over and put in a bowtie to stop the checking. I use the kreg system as well. Love the live edge too. Nice work W's.

Looks great and i learned a lot watching this. Any concern for expansion and contraction on those slabs? When I do a table top or a countertop I use clips that allow for it, but then again, I've never tried it with more cabinets attached to the topside.

Love the work you guys are doing and especially the Mrs work ethics, The only thing that bugs me is her choice of work shoe's .I wouldn't want to see her unprotected feet get battered up or even her tripping and falling by wearing the open flip flops. Take care.

Will the plaster just stay stuck to the drywall ceiling without cracking and flaking off, putting it on so thick. Isn't that why lath was used before there was drywall so the laths would hold the plaster? I've never seen this done, but that doesn't mean it's not a regular practice done all the time. It just seems wrong to me because I think of how plaster cracks when it dries if it's any thickness to it at all.
