Been thinking about how the hips work and whether should more down into the ball and then up as part of post impact. Drill helps with my thinking. I currently finish with more side bend.

Hi Dan, you've made a couple of errors here. Backswing is clockwise pelvic rotation into internally rotated right hip (not external) and through impact is anti-clockwise pelvic rotation into internally rotated left hip (not external). If the left hip externally rotates through impact you'll have nothing to leverage against.

Not sure if I understood this video ? What is the purpose of rotating the hip in the down swing past parallel to the target line ? To generate power? To square the club face ? To make room ? Wouldn’t be easier to square the club face using the hands ? Would you be so kind and elaborate?

FYI, novel coming up: First off, Dan, thanks for the great tips and content. Keep it coming. Remember all; hit the like button to get Dan more coverage - check out swing analysis vids.. The content he is providing us for free is extremely valuable (cannot even put a value - I am sure Dan does with what he charges for personal training ;) lol....) - especially for myself and new golfers (we can learn the right way and not have to learn bad habits and then learn all over again). Harder to fix the swing you "think" you have "nailed" and the having to start to learn your swing all over again, the proper way. Jay from Canada. P.S. You don’t say what the result of not opening hips up enough or pushing off right or the shot shape you would see or was I mistaken, maybe some people would just know this but maybe cause hooks and hanging back
