I love it at a Stevie gig when he sings a medley of early songs. Beginning with Fingertips he’ll say “Hey…. I’m Little Stevie Wonder all over again” and ending the medley with “oh no, what’s happening……………” as his voice goes lower and lower. His vocal on ‘All in Love is Fair’ is just sublime. Gladys Knight’s voice is incredible and hasn’t weakened at all. When I first saw her live just a few years ago I said to my Son at the concert “She should be good, she’s been doing it for over 60 years” P E A C E : )

The nasalily sound in his voice became more apparent over the years. He also i think changed up his technique of hitting the higher notes. His voice sounded pretty exhausted in 2005

i don't think he's nasal at all, his soft palate is mostly raised whenever he produces a sound. he just places his sound in the head. also, i could say his technique declined over the years after his prime

@@graysang5386 his technique is actually good, Seth Riggs kept him good since he’s been 19. Stevie wonders voice never aged like other artists that sound old by age 50 and up. Almost every artist sounds old except for Stevie and a few who took singing lessons among the years. Especially with Riggs as their teacher

His voice was tired a lot through the 2000s and usually when your nasal it makes your voice tired quicker than a normal voice.

From 1983 to 2003 he was at the highest level of his voice. the sounds were ample, full, melted into the twang... Since 2005 the sound of his voice has been in a hurry, everything in the nose! it's too nazal. no more pharyngeal resonances...maybe because he's too fat and all the tissues of his throat are swollen, the air flow is less good...He remains for me one of the greatest singers

Nice idea for a video but the dates are misleading because Motown often held back releases of material recorded earlier. "My Cherie Amour" is listed here as 1969 but in fact it was recorded a year earlier. According to Motown, the vocals were added on January 15, 1968. To get a 1969 song, try something from the "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" album, like "I Gotta Have a Song" (recorded Sept. 12, 1969).

Either way, you can't find a vocalist from that era better than him......bongos, drums, keys, harmonica...recorded date or release date....when it comes to Soul Music, there's no time. These songs were born before recorded.

@@chriso8193 Nice phrase, Chris -- "born before recorded" is good. Although he did complain that before he turned 21 and gained artistic control, he couldn't shape or arrange the songs -- he turned them in to the Motown machine and the next time he heard them, they were already scored and recorded, and all he could do was add his vocal track. That's why he was so relieved that the first time he had total freedom he would call the album "Music of My Mind." Accent on MY!

Wow you missed the entire point of your own video by omitting the ACTUAL TRANSFORMATION OF HIS VOICE IN 1964! Songs like "pretty little angel" show the actual change from boy to man.

He is way better than Freddie, Mercury would lower the pitch of his songs live and did it often, Freddie was a better show man but on the vocals their were way better artist. Stevie is one who never cheats the audience live as he always sings to the original key, due to the fact that he’s taken singing lessons since he was 19 and his voice never aged and sounded like an old man. It’s remained so strong and that’s because he was humble enough to have voice lessons for over 50 years with Seth Riggs

Hi, in my opinion Freddie had a poor technique live (especially in rock songs where there were high notes) while in the studio he had an excellent performance. Stevie Wonder both in the studio and live, however, always has a good technique. Anyway, Freddie, in my opinion, remains the best ever for the presence on the stage and his songs are beautiful ❤️
