So this was our first hoi3 game in several years. Most of us were pretty rusty or had no idea what they were doing. But Swimmy playing as the USSR reprised his role of losing instantly just like 10 years ago when I played against him.

@@Whatareyoudoinnhere no, when USSR reaches 100% surrender, they do just that and surrender the fight, meaning they are no longer at war and cannot declare war. What Schimmy was doing was refusing to click on the Bitter Peace event where half the Soviet Union became German territory. Bo wouldn't have to fight any the USSR any longer, but Schimmy was denying him the extra resources from signing the peace treaty

Years after, I finally understand what happened with the peace deals. Axis tried to enforce territorial war goals on USSR, which is why peace deal didn't kick in immediately. Whereas Allies used enforce democracy war goal on Germany, which meant Germany turns into a Social Liberal country led by Zentrum, however Hitler and co stayed as ministers, changes were Open Society and Free Trade laws, also economy&conscription laws also reverted back to War Economy&One Year Draft from Total Mobilization&Three Year Draft. It also meant Germany kept its cores (Germany kept Danzig, Austria and Czechia as they were cores but lost Alsace-Lorraine because Germany didn't core it, if France wasn't in Allies and a peace deal happened Germany would've kept it) and just peaced out with its enemies.

@@sodomisedcheesegrater9820 It's not like they were incompetent. After all, the USSR's losses are acceptable if you look into the bigger picture. Their sole purpose was to tie up most of Germany's manpower to the East, keeping the Germans distracted whilst the Western Allies advance through Africa with the hopes of reopening the Western Front in mainland Europe. And the Soviets were directing most of their resources to produce as many guns and munitions as possible to retake their Western parts that are vital to the nation's economy. Don't forget about multiple of their sucessful operations, such as Bagration where an entire German Army group were literally disintegrated.

Fun fact hoi3 has mechanics which make it practically impossible to hold the initial barbarossa. What most people then do is form up the majority of their army on rivers deeper in the country and other defensive positions (eg crimean isthmus or pripyet marshes) and hold there.
