Let´s finally get this right: Bette Midler ALSO covered "The Rose". Amanda McBroom wrote an recorded the song, with Lincoln Mayorga on piano sometime in the mid-sixties, on Sheffield Lab Records. It is a very fine song, and Amanda´s voice is no less than stunning.

But as far as I know, a lady like Amanda McBroom didn't sue him for it anywhere and she didn't even want her money from him, which was earned by the stolen remake.😆..
