I got a dao vua and i’ve noticed they are dirty or something. Every time i wash it and scrub it with soap and dry it with a paper towel, the paper towel has like black dirt or crap on it. I’ve scrubbed it and wiped it many times and it does that every time. I ended up taking some sand paper to it and sanding the blackened part of the knife

Do you still get that black stuff after you sanded it? Are you using it on acidic foods like tomatoes? Only thing I can think of is that you’re scrubbing off the oxide layer or patina that is forming. Acidic foods will create this patina much faster. Somewhat counterintuitive but you can try using vinegar to force a thicker patina layer on it. Then clean it well with a sponge, not a scrubby pad. You’ll get a bunch of the black stuff off but after that with a thicker, more stable oxide layer it will be less reactive to food and less prone to rusting.

That's "mill scale", adherent iron oxide (Magnetite). The hot steel is in the air when being heated and forged, and the surface oxidizes like crazy. The whole thin looked like that until they ground part of it away to make the edge! It holds oil and resists corrosion, plus it looks different! There's plenty of shiny knives out there.

Why does the Nexus look like it bends downward right at the handle/blade point?

@@AGuThing where the blade meets the handle it looks like the blade starts to go downwards like a slight hill. ---\ idk maybe it’s the camera angle

How's that karuchi finish holding up for you? My two Dao Vua knives, its all gone.

Mine is actually holding up fine, with some extra patina at this point. How are you washing it? I only use a soft sponge with dish soap and wipe dry right after.

What’s the diff btw pipeline and leaf spring

They don’t disclose the actual steel compositions but state that the pipeline steel produces a higher hardness blade with better edge retention than the leaf spring. I don’t have a leaf spring one to compare to but I will say that the edge retention on this knife is equal to or greater than VG10 while also being relatively easy to sharpen.
