Great review of this model. I have the same model number 8750 purchased for a very resonable price of £209. Can't wait to run it on our club 0 gauge which is being built.

A very good review of an exceptional RTR offering. One point, the 57XX panniers were never equipped for push pull working, so if one was seen with an auto coach then at the end of its journey it would have to run round.

Thanks! Intersting info. The reason I assumed it was because the locomotive was traded in along with a Dapol autocoach (which I could not afford)

Cabside disc is GWR power class C ( Tractive effort 20,501 to 25,000 lb .) Route availability yellow, 16 long tons axle loading. Nice review btw!

I met and chatted to the managing director and congratulated him on these! I have the Jinty and couldn't resist an Isle of Wight Terrier! Both also being done in 5 inch gauge in my workshop!!! David and Lily.

A very honest and a great review of the Dapol Pannier, Jenny. It's good to see you move up to the 'Senior' scale it does, as you say, have a presence, even more so when running through point work, it has a real 'feel' of the prototype. The c in the yellow disc refers to power classification and route availability respectively of the loco, a GWR scheme. I purchased the Minerva version a year or so ago, little to choice between the two it depends on what is the best deal at the time. I built a Vulcan kit 20 years ago, cost £180, a good starter kit but took me over a year to do, and when you look at the price of rtr now, it makes O gauge that much more accessible. By the way, the gauge should be 33mm in 7 mm scale so there is still a compromise in O Gauge, but it is less so than OO gauge, and you are right does look a lot closer to the real thing. Looking forward to the garden layout or the round roundy circuit! BR Chris

Yes, I have the small prairie on order, you are welcome to do a review when I get it.

Yes and the Jinty needs a mucky place to live... New layout needed! The yellow circle is the route availability and power classification for the Great Western!! Double red being the Kings!!!

If not mentioned already, you were right about steam heating pipes. 57XX class members were not fitted for auto (push-pull) working. I believe the smaller 64xx pannier tanks were so fitted.

Re the yellow disc and the letter 'C'... Yellow is the route classification colour and is governed by axle loading - the 57xx tanks could run almost anywhere on the GWR except for the too-lightly laid 'uncoloured track. Next up was blue, then red and finally double-red: the Kings were only allowed to run on double-red routes. The power classifications ran from un-classified (no letter) up to 'E' the most powerful. The 57xx was 'C' which was right in the middle... Actual values can be found on line or in old Ian Allen spotters books - a good source of information. Hope this very brief outline helps. Finally, congratulations in addopting the one true religion - the GWR! All he best, Ken.

I must have missed a vid somewhere, in which you said the new garden railway would be 'O' gauge. The last mention of it was where you were lifting the track of the old one!

hamshackleton ah yes I decided to trade up a size, in part because it would allow for running live steam too.

things are not more fragile than oo, but you have to grip the loco harder due to the fact it is heavier, which seems to cause things to break off easier, although its not

So much detail on the "O" Dapol Panner very impressive indeed,,But i only do "OO" as your fully aware of Jenny. All ground work done for the build of my new 20 ft x 18 ft at a cost pheww have got my work cut out some what !!!! ,After planning was granted by the council at long last.Wrong type of year to erect it as winter is moving in.Now i can start making video's my own at long last. All DC only.Next try and set up my own "You Tube" require a it engineer to show myself how to set that one up,Cazz

Carol.Taylor Looking forward to your videos when you post them. With the space you said you have, consider maybe looking at 0 gauge. Probably get more bang for your pound with O than OO.

You are not supposed to pick models up in the manner you are doing, especially heavy weight models
