A merry Christmas to you and a big thanks for building this model, I think that she does look a lot crisper and better moulded than the Airfix copy that I have.

original release of the kit was by Rosebud Kitmaster in 1959 No.1 in their range, Airfix released it in the mid 1960's after buying out Kitmaster, Airfix made a few changes and it's been with Dapol since the mid 80's who also got the rights to the Kimaster name from Airfix/Palitoy who went to Humbrol and eventually ironically to Hornby in 2004 ish.

Thanks for this. Since I was a kid I'd noticed there was a real difference in the Airfix Rail section. Good old Dapol for keeping these going. Cheers MM.

8:12 That's not Locomotion No.1, that's Steam Elephant. Locomotion No. 1 is bigger and the platform where the driver stands on is much higher

Nice model, I have one myself. If you wish to build other locomotives of that era, you ought to check out Newman Miniatures. The replica locomotive you show at my 8:20 is not Locomotion, it's Steam Elephant and was built buy William Chapman and John Buddle in 1815 for the Hetton Colliery.

You are absolutely correct... I don't know what came over me. I'll get on to Newman Miniatures right away. Thanks for the info'.

I’m thinking of getting one of these to put in a museum but I’m not sure about that Is there a diecast model You can get? As that might be better
@modelmeltdown3595 жыл бұрын
Iv'e not seen one lately. Ebay regulerly has a larger wood model kit that comes up from time to time. Occasionaly the old Hornby set comes up. Beyond that I've seen very little. Best of luck.

Well, nay wonder you couldn't get the chimney supports to fit, you've put the chimney on too high! The tapered base should be just barely above the running board. The curve on the bottom of it aligns to the curve of the boiler.

Just the standard Humbrol acrylic yellow No.69. But it took several layers.

Please do not use the term HO/ OO whilst the gauge is the same there is always the 1/2MM per foot difference with the scale which is quite notable. For instance this is 1/2 mm per foot -so say 20 ft= 10mm all up.
