My stepson is currently doing his electrical apprenticeship in New Zealand. Before he started studying, he was the type of teenager that wanted to run an extension cord to the back of property to power the stereo in heavy rain for his mates. Once he started studying he became an electrical safety nazi! I am so proud of him lol

When I was a (electrical engineering) student we would connect together all the extension leads in the flat down from the third floor flat into the back garden. They all had fuses in; what's the worst that's going to happen?

I learned a lot about electricity from my Grandfather. He was an engineer for General Electric. To this day the one thing he taught me was to check whether something was hot or not was to touch it with a closed fist with the other fist behind your back. If it was hot, your fist couldn't close around it and if you had you other fist behind your back the voltage couldn't trace across your heart. You could still be shocked but it wouldn't kill you. He passed in 1967. He invented something to do with X-rays and movie pictures. You could take X-ray movies of mahines in motion checking for defects.

As the son of an electrician i can confirm my childhood was notable for my early and continual introduction to little screwdrivers that light up at the end, and also fuses. Fuses everywhere. I was always partial to a 3amp, as a now middle aged (non electrician) i have begun to prefer 13mp fuses.

Actually a pregnancy test can show the possible presence of testicular cancer and they actaully test for the same proteins in a blood test for testicualr cancer as they do for women who are pregnant. I only found out because I kept getting weird looks when the person taking my blood test kept wondering why the doctor was asking for that test with a male.
