years ago we saw you do a gig at Chatham and you talked to Dave a lorry driver - after bigging up his job as a knight of the road and a free spirit you asked him how far he went "Essex" he said and when asked what he drove "skip lorry" bought the house down. Strange thing is months later at a friends party I met Dave for the first time where he turned out to be a long lost son of the hostess!

@@phuckweed Well there are bookies in America. So that's why I'm thinking it's actually bookmaker as in book's. And also the confused look on his face, when Jimmy starts on about betting. "Bookmaker" as in a bookie. A person who makes books is my first thought as well. It took me a while to figure it out in a novel I was reading.
@jaspermooren588310 ай бұрын
I thought that for a minutes as well. But that would be a bookbinder or an author, depending on if you physically make books (although of course that is a super niche profession nowadays that is really relegated to etsy shops and stuff for very special bookcovers) or write them. Bookmaking is the someone that balances the books, by making sure the betting odds are slighly in the favour for the betting organiser to maximise profits. So someone that makes the books black so to speak. So a very different job from being a bookbinder.
