Dara was a curious man. And he was interested in different different philosophies. He was not bound in a single piece of faith which was very dangerous for a prince whose background is abrahmic. And Dara paid the price with his life.

But you should remember that Dara Suko was not interested on to be a strong Badsha of India. Aurangzeb had been rule from 1658 to 1707 and he known as a strong Badsha .He fight against all kind of problems very strongly. Dara was not eligible to be a good king . It was good for mughal king Dom.

@@indranilmukherjee592 I strongly recommend you to read history....there were 2 battles between Aurangzeb and Darashiko which clearly indicate that he was interested in the mughal throne....2ndly dara was the first choice of shah jahan due to that reason Aurangzeb imprisoned Shah jahan after ascending to the throne....3rdly dara shikoh had a huge respect among many hindu kingdoms due to his inclusive and tolerant thinking which would have strengthened mughal kingdom further by creating allies if he would have ascended the throne......on the other hand Aurangzeb was a radical man with expansionist thinking, cruel intentions and heavy inclination toward forceful implementation of Islam...he was intolerant due to which a no. of rebels emerged in different parts of the country against mughal empire.... as a result mughal empire was defeated by Marathas in the south, Chhatrasal in central region, Ahom kingdom in the northeast.....Durgadas rathore also posed a feared resistance to Aurangzeb in Rajputana...as a result Aurangzeb policies led to a swift decline in the strength of Mughal empire....

He lost the battle of samugarh only due to his incompetence despite the fact that he had more men and the support of ShahJehan. Further more you mention that he was chosen by ShahJehan that doesn't mean anything, ShahJehan should have remembered how he got the throne by killing every male member of the Mughal family even his brother the harmless blind prince khusrau, ShahJehan had himself set a precedent that in order to live and survive you had to eliminate your rivals 3rd you said Aurangzeb was anti Hindu, I don't agree with that most of his courtiers were hindus further more 6 of his 11 generals were hindus but aurangzeb was only branded as anti Hindu due to his wars against Marathas which has been branded by some Hindus nationalists as war between Hindus and Muslim but the truth is that they were just rival powers fighting for dominance of India

But yes, Mughal rule would have become more stable under him due to less military conflicts and the British may have not have been able to exploit the lack of unity amongst Hindustanis. Had the Mughal king being weak like Dara the British would have taken control in 1600s and beaten Dara like they did during the battle of Buxor in 1750s but the British attempt against Aurangzeb failed in 1686 when the east India company under Sir Josiah Child made the mistake to challenge Aurangzeb they were humiliated and defeated and they had to bow down at his feat to ask his forgiveness Please search Child's War 1686

Dara shikoh was a great,writer, poet and humble man. But Aurangzeb was more of a leader and warrior than Dara. Aurangzeb had excellent economic and military management skills. Also Dara was favourable to Shah Jahan to not punish him where as Aurangzeb believed that Shah Jahan built his personal wish (Taj Mahal) by publics money and should be punished for improper use of govt funds.
