@richyearle007 Жыл бұрын
There are so many beautiful beaches in Australia, but unfortunately Bondi would not even rate a mention by most Aussies. The tourists seem to like it though, maybe because it can be reached easily by public transport, who knows.. You probably won't hear this on the show Bondi Rescue, but here is something rarely mentioned. The Bondi sewage treatment plant takes wastewater from half a million well fed Aussies and discharges 130 million litres/day of treated effluent into the ocean. They reckon it's safe, but considering we live in a country full of spiders,snakes ,sharks,crocs and many other deadly things you probably have not even heard of, everything is comparatively safe... A bloke was killed a couple of days ago off Sydney by a whale , so the thinking would be, Crikey, what's the big deal of combing some shredded dunny paper out of your hair! All i will say Carol, is make sure keep your mouth closed or try and floss after having a surf. If by chance you do hear someone yell out "watch out for that black bastard" it's not a racist comment , but simply a warning of a missed untreated turd body surfing into shore. Good luck mate..

Surfing bloody tough yakka, definitely underestimated. Unlike snowboarding, skiing or skateboarding, the surface you're on is inconsistent, and obviously an aspect is getting out to catch the break, it's tiring, gives you little practice actually riding a wave for the time put in, and it causes significant injuries. Gave it myself after blowing out my ACL & MCL on a bad wipeout. Mad respect to mad lads who get out on the big big boy waves.

Dara, loved your act mate. A very good and accurate representation on what it's like to learn to surf. Everyone, including the Pro-Surfers has to go through that stage, but it is easier when you are young. You are wrong on one point however, Ireland has some very talented male and female surfers. Irish surfers not only have to brave the elements, they also take on some of the largest and gnarliest waves on the planet!!! Don't let little things like a board to the face, blood loss and the shark threat put you off. Your future surf sessions are potentially a goldmine of comedy material.

I was at Manly on the weekend and I used to live at Bondi. Admittedly I prefer Manly, but what’s wrong with Bondi? Oh god I can just see it. You can always tell the tourists from the locals 🤣 that being said though, all of us have looked like absolute nuggets in our time. My best moment was a couple of years ago when I learned the important lesson - bikinis' are not suitable surfing attire. I like to body surf, so I ditch the board and I just swim really fast while relying on my natural buoyancy, I love how I feel the power of the ocean swelling around me when I body surf, and I also have big boobs and very prominent hip bones, so laying on a board is pretty uncomfortable for me. Now, on this day, I was wearing a very cute floral bikini, and a rashy which had long sleeves and a bit of a scooped neck. It was very flattering. But because I'm not on a board, all of the water I'm body surfing over goes under me rather than under a board. But because my rashy was scoop necked, instead of just flowing over my rashy, it flowed into it and created a parachute. Terrible for body surfing effectively, also terrible for keeping a bikini in place. I catch a really good wave, all the way in to shore pretty much and stand up and my Mum takes one look at me and starts to cackle like nothing I have ever heard before. I look around wondering what has happened then look down and realise that my bikini became dislodged and untied while I was catching the wave, and had kinda, plopped up and over the edge of my rashy. One boob cup still in my rashy, and the other boob cup and all of the strings out the front. I tidied myself up and then never wore that combination of rashy and bikini again. Turtleneck rashy's and one piece swimwear all the way. Fortunately it happened at the dog beach, so few people saw.

@@Mrc172 Spent 2 years in Taz when i was young about 44 years ago (love Taz, wish i hadn't left), it was to cold to swim for me! Ever been to Verona sands, Cygnet (went to primary at Cygnet, a 10 mile walk each way, fun in winter) or Lymington (annoying i can't find the farm house i lived in, i tried g00gle maps), and bridgewater (was really nice back 40+ years ago), Franklin i think, we lived in a workers farm house near an apple orchard, it burnt down, the 4x4 fire truck couldn't get up the hill, lost my dog.
