My guess is that there was a card already inside the ice, which he is hiding with his foot when camera shows ice (you can see that he doesn't move his left foot), then, when he kneels to do the trick, he takes a little step back with left foot, camera is delayed, doesn't show it. I just don't know how he made the card he was holding disappear, though, even with slow video

GoCanucksGo man, pause the video at 00:35, to the right of his left foot there's a big X, the center of the X aligns where he is stepping. Now check when he kneels down, he takes a step back and his hand is already covering the card he was stepping on, he's hand is in the same position as he's left foot, center of X.

I don't think getting the card in the ice is where the skill is at in this one. There's a few ways he could have done that, getting rid of the card he lays down on the ice, that needs some slick sleight of hand.

There was snow on the ice. He put it on the card and used the warmth from Hsu hand to melt the snow. Still pretty awesome guy tho.
