My main issue with infinite Vehicles blow up worse than they do in halo 2 There is no smoke, fire or electricity on the wreckage of vehicles. That pales in comparison to every previous game.

There is a lot lacking in the vfx department...I really hope they will be fully fleshed out at launch because it is really a disappointment.

There's a lack of detail and polish across the board. The gameplay is... Somewhat solid, but it doesn't have the 30 seconds of fun.

@@mmlol1248 Beta = feature complete bug testing. If it was an alpha, then you'd have a point. But aside from bug fixes and balance tweaks, the game you're playing now is the one you'll be playing on release day.

@@yewtewbstew547 It’s not a beta nor an alpha. They attempted to classify it as a flight to not categorize it. Things are still being altered and with the modern way gaming works things will continue to be altered even after release. I expect there to be more changes before December 8th. They have already proven they are willing to change things between the first and second flight.

What’s really sad is despite the fact everyone was so hyped when chief first picked up that fusion coil, no one really talked about it again. My mind when nuts. What if they made it where we could pick up pallets and use it as a deteriorating shield. It’s just one of those features that no other game has really done, but will not be expanded upon, and it’s really disappointing knowing this.

I never expected it to be a feature, but I always thought it would be cool to use the grapple to pull boxes toward you, like the interactable boxes that Bungie littered their maps with. In a game with a slower TTK, it would create interesting opportunities to create/influence cover, and would be amazing for splatter kills. The grapple feels great in Infinite, but it's essentially a personal power-up, with next to no opportunity for team play or secondary uses.

@@itsjustyash2750 I have had some good drawn out gun duels in Infinite, but IMO the sandbox needs some rather heavy tweaking to make gun fights more consistent, the AR kills faster than the BR thanks to headshot multipliers for non-precision weapons, and the over-reliance on bloom makes most gunfights feel like a crapshoot.

I like how sprint doesn't ever feel like too quick meaning maps can stay relatively small. while still feeling fast. I like how sprint feels in this Halo.

I went into custom games and disabled sprint, increased base player speed to 110%, jump height to 140%, and gravity to 100%. I also kept clamber because why not and it feels so much better. I really hope they add a “classic” playlist to multiplayer with these options because it plays exactly how I want it to. That’s all they have to do, but they are so focused on pleasing the modern crowd. I’m not asking for the removal of sprint, but simply the option to get xp in game modes that play like classic Halo.

I agree. They turned Halo into a modern PC shooter and PC mouse+keyboard players will always have the advantage even without bullet magnetism and with a controller it's not even possible to jump over a player and instantly ninja them in the back.

@@edsoad Not possible with a controller. Sensitivity doesn't go that high and if it did it would be impossible to aim normally. With a mouse it's easy.

If they add a classic playlist o think they wouldn't turn off clamber since all jumps in the maps depend on clamber, you literally cannot make most jumps without clamber

In customs you can turn it off. Don't know why anybody cares though I'm an og fan and infinite's sprint isn't a problem.

Thank god somebody else mentions the boring ass arena maps. People have been trying to gaslight me so hard that bazaar, and recharge arent the same box standard, boring human arenas from H5. I keep telling people, and they keep trying to bullshit me.

I do think they're overall "eh" maps, but I'll never miss an opportunity to point out how ridiculous it is for 343 to keep forcing clamber spots into the map. It absolutely ruins the flow for no good reason, clamber should be a punishment for bad jumps, not as a main avenue for traversal.

The only thing I think this game is lacking is Spartan Voice customization. I’d like a more tough silent Spartan. Not one straight out of academy.

but the whole point is your spartan is in the academy. you are essentially a raw recruit who just underwent augmentation and is now training under commander agrina. that is the entire premise of multiplayer in halo infinite

Honestly I think the only bonus sprint has is giving melee weapons/attacks a bit better when chasing someone down. But honestly could just give the Melee weapons a small speed boost.

Honestly at this point I don't care about sprint. If the game is fun, then the game is fun. It's the best way they could of implemented it and make no mistake it was always going to be implemented.

Well I played like MCC for 2 months in hopes for Infinite, then tried, Splitgate, Sprint broke me... LOL Although it's main mechanic is Portals but Sprint adds a lot of meaning as strafing without sprint is too easy to track, and with sprint it will take a pro to even touch you if you strafe, run and ctrl enough. Though if you get caught in front of a shotgun close range you are done. So I can confirm Halo 5 sprint would be shitty in Infinite, this is much better, not sure why someone will use it though, I would rather just shoot than run, ctrl(crouch) and some strafing is the most you would want to do in Infinite which is for the best, at least it means I don't need to be able to track lighting bolts for each kill...

i wouldn't say it solved it, as that's literally impossible unless you remove it, but realistically it's the closest we'll probably ever get to classic gameplay (aside from maybe a classic mode playlist/custom games)

Overall Infinite just feels too safe and sort of bland. But one big thing you didn’t mention, is a lot of the new items seem to just be old abilities taken from one weapon and put into a new one. No more grenades jumps, use the repulsor instead. No more Plasma Pistol emp, use the shock rifle instead, etc. False creativity in a way

Yup, I find it weird that the repulsor is basically the Halo 3 gravity hammer, but with a few more interactions, and almost no damage output.

it feels like a lazy rehash of old ideas because new ideas are scary for the fanbase that Microsoft desperately wants to milk for all of their worth. this game is the old that killed halo for me as instead of going forward it went back to pander to people who haven't played halo in a decade

@@Gridlocked Reduction of sprint emphasis, no permanent thrust, a lot less emphasis on slide, no actual crouch jump / spring jump capability (tested that out in the training grounds), removal of ground pound and spartan charge (glad they're gone but still was a major component of Halo 5), alterations in graphics to resemble the classic art style over the modern art style, emphasis on the AR with the magnum treated more like what it was in Halo 2, the list goes on.

I'll take boring reach-like armor over fugly gundam wannabe armor any day. I'm hoping 343 are just playing it safe design wise for now and are focusing on feedback before they make more adventurous designs later on. That being said, good points on everything else. Great vid.

I would honestly love it if they did sprint like classic fps games, you move faster but can still do everything you could i.e jump/shoot at the walking speed.

I really think the answer to how to evolve Halo isn't the addition of sprint but instead the addition of moving parts in maps. On BTB maps why not have light bridges that can be controlled? What about doors that can open and close? What about some destructible environmental features similar to Halo 2 just enhanced and not as map breaking? Halo has always been designed around map control. Thus, why not improve the maps instead of player mobility? Sprint is better here and I don't hate the slide mechanic but I'd still prefer no sprint. My answer is to just get more creative with the maps. For arena game modes add doors and telaporters that cut in and out. Maybe have a grav lift that rotates around the bottom of a vertical circular map? Idk if that idea would work but why not give it a shot? Creating maps that require movement but yet still provide powerful strongholds is a great place to start.

Exactly! For another idea, why not take some inspiration from the Crysis games? We can already pick up and yeet fusion coils, but why not barrels, why not be able to kick dumpsters and cars into enemy’s faces? Man, now I wanna play Crysis 3’s MP again.

It actually does make sense because of their shields. There is a moment in Fall of Reach (I think) where Chief has to run through a minefield and he boosts the shields on his feet as a precaution, and he notes that it feels a lot more slippery to walk on.

The best way to solve the issue with Sprint is to just increase the default movement speed and cut out the middle man altogether like DOOM Eternal, but if 343 really needs that Sprint animation for 12 year olds that still play CoD then I guess this is the next best thing

I think that sprint is more the 20-years old who never played Halo and grew up with CoD. Infinite could be the first FPS of an entire generation, and they would have accepted the absence of sprint.

Sprint is basically there for sliding and to provide a slight speed boost. Comes in handy in BTB and a large campaign. I don’t want to turn Halo into Quake or Doom. What is there to complain about anymore anyway? You can shoot instantly and reload in sprint. It’s slower paced like Halo 1-3 with modern elements.

I'd lose my shit and immediately toss money at the screen if they made it more like DOOM Eternal, it's certainly better than making it more like CoD like they did with Halo 4 and 5. And I don't disagree at all, in fact that's my point, if you can reload while sprinting, shoot instantly, and if it's barely faster than the normal running speed, then why even have it there at all? It really seems like it's there for the animation itself more than anything else

@@nagger8216 Being able to launch you in a slide. The slide works with maps which can make some interesting interactions like giving that launch boost which is pretty satisfying and fun but not necessary is what I'm going with so far. Just my guessing

Imagine using sprint to break through walls or do a signature melee that has a lot of knockback, there are things that can give sprint a tangible purpose, devs just need to be creative and ballsy.

My greatest concern right now is the potential degree of judgement made based on nostalgia and a greater than reasonable desire to return to the old. Not saying that's you, ShreddedNerd. Just in general. Among my friends, I've been strongly advocating for an avoidance of 'putting Halo on a pedestal', and judging it in a way that is, in my opinion, unfairly biased toward a different age. "It's not 2007", but without the snark. Essentially, I am of the opinion that, in general, our ability to accurately judge Halo infinite is biased too heavily toward circumstances that no longer exist in the industry. This isn't a mechanics or design thing, either. It's more about the corporate side of things and the expectations of shooters as a whole, dictated by the larger audience across multiple franchises, not just CoD vs Halo. These factors, from the consumer level all the way up to the corporate level, is why I consider it to be astronomically unlikely that we will see any preexisting franchise return to it's former glory. It cannot hold up to modern standards and expectations and also completely outdo our memories of what came before. In a sad sort of metaphor, it's like addictive substances... The first high is always the best, and in trying to reach that again, we only ever continue to disappoint ourselves, or sink further into experimentation with the hopes that something new will give the desired result. I think this is why all too often something that has existed a while grows sour over time. The lowermost to the uppermost circumstances of development change, and the continuing quest to either relive or exceed the 'first high' through newer iterations leads to greater and greater disappointment. I don't think Halo infinite can ever reach the standards it's being held to. This isn't to say it shouldn't try, mind. It's more that I think people need to realize those standards can never be fully met, even if all compromises were stripped and the game was pure Halo.

I really wish more people would understand this comment about games. There are a lot of games today that will never reach the level of games like Halo 3 or Halo 2, it's not possible because of how the industry has changed, but that does not mean you can't enjoy the game either. Halo Infinite is simply not going to be Halo 3, it will never live up to that title, but that does not mean that it won't live up to the title of Halo Infinite.

@@acrazedgunman3388 you don't have to improve on decade old games, you can create new ideas based off of the franchise they have. Like picture a flood zombie survival halo game, or hell even though it doesn't need to be in Halo, make a standalone Halo BR that is separate from the base Halo games.

so in every btb match i played i never experienced this so called control based weapon spawn system in fact it seems like they have listed to criticism and returned it tp a timer system as every time i was defending the flag i would grap a bulldog or heatwave and take out anyone who came close and even after grabbing the weapon the the timer would reset and it started ticking back almost instantly up so i think this concern has been addressed either that or it was a bug that happened in every capture the flag match i had

My issue with the pulse carbine is not only is the storm rifle gone(thank gosh). But the plasma rifle is still gone and now the carbine is gone. And it feels like the pulse carbine is intended to be an in-between to the plasma rifle and carbine. And is not a good mix. I wouldn't mind having the plasma rifle. Carbine and pulse rifle all together in the game

It's definitely the least bad form of sprint we've ever had, but still is a problem. People still turn and run from fights. I was playing while my friend was watching and I popped someone's shield, only for them to run around corner after corner while I chased them. He made the joke: "This guy is running from you line 343 runs from the classic shotgun.

I personally always loved the battle within the battle to contol power weapons and vehicles. When you have them the challenge of keeping them and when you don't the challenge of taking them away from the other side. In some cases it was a real unfair advantage. But in most cases it would go back and forth and force you to act more as a team as opposed to just individuals.

The point about vehicles and power weapons, I very much agree. A few hours ago I had a BTB game and the enemy team got the power weapons first and could just dominate our team with vehicles. It's super hard to counter the vehicles when all the counters to vehicles are locked behind control system or whatever and when the enemy team gate keeps access to these weapons.

sprint and mantle, i feel neutral towards them. however, my biggest question is, is this needed in halo? or is it just added because its a feature in every other shooter. halo was always unique compared to almost all other fps games, is it worth it to add features that are "standard" in other games? I know some things like pinging are good, but then again.. h1-3 didnt have sprint and was the most successful halo games with the most players for the longest time. the balance was great although not perfect. everyone moved at the same speed. imagine if quake, valorant, fortnite (even tho its "always run" by default), csgo added sprint. but no, they stick to their formula and their games are good still. seems like halo infinite, although fun, is the most streamlined and mainstream halo game target for casuals. it is f2p tho so what can you expect.

Just like the dude in the video, you're missing the entire point of sprint in this game. You don't seem to understand that the sprint mechanic is specifically used to use movement tech like slope sliding, drop/curb slides etc which is only possible while gaining that small speed increase when sprinting.

@@noble3515 True, but what they should have done is increased the base jump height. Clamber should be used as a secondary option if you miss the jump. Instead clamber is forced on almost every ledge.

I managed to capture alot of flags on btb holding an overshield or holding a stealth and using it as tactically as possible, the idea does change the game entirely for those two items alone. Plus I randomly picked one up off someone who forgot to use it or panicked, ended up doing gods work to the unfortunate people around me, even used the overshield to run tf away and completely ignore a fight while I was a pure meatbag. Also the sniper is god awful it feels like a cod sniper which is extremely awkward as I am playing halo, and i am depending on the halo engines mathematics to use it the way I do, its too stressful to use on mouse.

As an old-school Halo player who hated Halo 5, I have been very disappointed by Infinite. The game feels more like like a tone downed version of Guardians than Halo 3+. I personally won't use sprint and slide at all when playing. Can't wait to see your opinion !

@@Qballiz2kool The Mendicant Bias will prob have some role too judging by imagery, plus the banished are a hundred times better than the covenant remnants in 4 and 5. The open world zones make me a little worried in regard to story focus though the sandbox might work well with it and differ from Multiplayer.

My biggest issue is descoping. It's not on all weapons. Any weapon with smart scope has no descoping. This makes it so that some weapons are better to use long range than proper long range weapons. I would use the AR over the commando because it has no descoping

Something I'm nervous about is the forge map 343 didn't do very good in past games. Reach did it perfect you could make so many environments by only adding on to it not having to make something entirely different your could use different parts of the map to make a smaller map in reach it had a amazing forge world

Behemoth is a nice looking map; however, not a fan of being cross-mapped on gentle slopes and mostly flat terrain by high-velocity projectiles. This is what makes the 3-lane maps work in this iteration of the weapon balance, separate from other design choices like Bazaar’s stand-offish nature with flank routes reliant on clambering and an open, trench-like center. Definitely thinking an AR in the style of CE would be more fun - higher mag capacity and rate of fire with a larger spread and lesser range (maybe done via slower projectile speed). Can keep the recoil if desired. Think this would help differentiate the pistol and AR, as they perform the same roles, except one is precision and the other automatic.

16:58 I swear I always drop gravity to 90% every time I load up a custom game in Halo 5 and now Infinite. 343's games have way too much gravity. Jumping just doesn't feel good and the physics interaction are low too.

Its interesting that you say that the Assault Rifle is over powered because, at least when I have been using it, i get the opposite impression. I’m not sure if I am having major issues with hit registration or something (I have good internet) but at mid range targets im lucky if I even get a kill with a full magazine. Im having many instances where i fight someone at close range and don’t do a bad job landing my shots and i might get the kill in the last 3 or 4 bullets. I know, in theory, the AR should be able to get 2 kills if every bullet were to hit the target but not what I have been seeing this far… to be honest ive been frustrated with infinite thus far because of it. The problem even extends over to the commando and BR… yesterday, from my point of view, i landed every shot with the commando, all 20 rounds, and the guy straight up did not die. Its so weird that im having just a complete opposite experience… that being said, I am playing on Xbox Series X, so maybe that might have something to do with it. Other games I play work pretty well and i don’t have excessive issue with hit registration

While 3-lane can be uninspired, I feel like the content and flow of the maps differs a lot, to the point where I forget it’s 3-lane design. If you think about it, even maps like Guardian and The Pit are 3-lane designed, but they were distinctive enough in aesthetic and creativity on how each lane plays out to forget about it / notice

In order to help counter vehicles, they need to increase the charged plasma pistol shot to closer to previous Halo entries. It should disable vehicles as well as in previous entries.

Totally agree plasma carbine feels great. They just need to fix the plasma pistol, as of right it feel like it has no place in the sandbox. Overcharge doesn't EMP vehicles and tracking is not good at mid range where it should be most viable. It takes a long time to drain shields and a long time to kill

Speaking of counters to vehicles @10:18 there's even more that make vehicles a death trap rather than a "power weapon" you get to first. After playing BTB and getting the grappling hook and shock wave or pulse thing, literally every vehicle I saw was easy to board or kill. The grapple doesn't break no matter what the driver does, and the push back from the pulse is absurd. I killed people who got stuck after getting knocked back and partially flipped, or just boarded anything within grapple range. In terms of clutter, the audio bothered me so much trying to hear footstep was impossible until I changed my audio mode to compressed. But for outlines and other visuals it's just awful. I've had times mistaking teammates for enemies because of this, while also spotting enemies super faraway who were only peaking their head out. Sometimes I'd kill enemies and when their grenades dropped I'd see the glow and think they'd already thrown them and jump away only to realize they didn't. Overall I think the game play in the flight, barring major outcry and issues will be exactly the same when the game launches. Which is a shame and crazy to think about considering they were going to release it a year ago.

you got to the point but then just went past it, placebos are a thing, and they work. doesn't really matter if sprint works all that much, as long the placebo effect is there it works. also just because 343 had to compromise and meet in the middle doesn't inherently make it a bad thing. but evrything else was on point. good video :)

I personally want shoot from sprint to be instant. That delay is a annoying to me. To me, the way to make sprint not viable everywhere is to bring back sprint not regenerating shields

Well, shoot from sprint is instant in infinite. The only instance it wasn't from my experience is when you try to shoot right after you start sprinting, but it only happened with the assault rifle (though that might be a bug/performance thing, since sometimes it doesn't occur).

I don’t know if infinite “solved” sprint or not but the fact that it’s relatively slow when compared to walking is already a win for me, I’ve played all infinite flights so far and the only time I felt like I needed to sprint was in btb. (Also crouch jumping is back so that’s great, I rarely used clamber thx to that.) What I will say is that I don’t see anything bad with sprint being a placebo in infinite, as long as it stays that way and doesn’t get faster just let the sprint fans go “fast” because “a sUpEr SoLdIEr sHoUlD sPrInT”. Edit: I gotta say tho overall I’m liking infinite way more than I thought I would, it ain’t quite there yet but it’s a damn good effort. Hell, so far I think I prefer infinite’s pvp over reach’s (at least gameplay-wise).

13:47 to 16:30 i had that problem with bazar and especially life fire but i feel ,especially on control/supremacy, recharge did have that problem because there so many different paths. In bazar if you go down to the middle most of the time your dead which restricted me to the sides and made it 2 lane. Life fire is super 3 lane and feels like your just going down a lane, dying repeat. In recharge i feel like you have so many different options that work because middle is not a death trap 99% of the time, most lanes have sub lanes (if that makes sense) and there are spots like the stair well window in-between c-a with the commando/battle rifle spawn and and the big dome area that give you an advantage if you hold them. The stair well gives you quick access to a and c with an overview of mid. The dome has very quick access to a and b with direct sight line of c. Idk might just have been my experience. Good video.

For the Oct 1-3 flight I had some fun... I liked the maps, but they were three lanes, I do think they have a bit more freedom then your average cod map but I do hope not every halo map in infinite is this design.

As long as the map design isn't massively bloated for the sake of sprinting, I'm good with it. I actually enjoy being able to shift into a slide from time to time to cross a small gap in cover quicker, or come out of cover with more momentum and surprise a guy who didn't expect it.

I really liked the video, I disagree with the maps, I personally loved all the maps. My reason I love how unique each one has been so far, Bazzar how it takes place in a rebuilt Mombasa or Live Fire in a spartan training facility dedicated to Johnson. The three lane maps I do see now that you pointed them out but I personally don't mind them, they don't look or feel the exact same for me like a Call Of Duty map would feel. That's just my opinion on it though, great video and hopefully we'll get one on BTB!!!

We know more AI's are in the files so hopefully they aren't as cringy, but yeah besides the AR shitting on the whole match its pretty good, I love how 343 are reinventing these weapons with new functions. There are also more weapons in custom games that are fun to play with so hopefully we get to use them before the flight ends. I think the larger, BTB-esk maps will be amazing, but yeah 4v4 is kinda a slog if you're playing Slayer.

The personal AI are incredibly annoying and despite Infinite's clear improvements over 4 and 5, there are still plenty of clear indications that 343 still haven't quite grasped what made Halo before. Also, the Mark VII armor does look like something a spartan IV would wear, but it doesn't strike me at all as something chief would wear which I'd imagine all mainline spartan suits would want to carry that heroic spartan vibe. Even Chief's mark VI suit looks just slightly off due to it being so bulky. It's proportions were very consistent across Halo 2 and 3, but I'm probably just nitpicking. I'm excited in any case.

im sorry but sprint is not just a placebo as you say. sprint as an entire new purpose in halo infinite one that is no longer about just getting from point A to point B quickly if you want to do that grab a vehicle, no sprint is all about building momentum for slides and jumps creating a far more fluid and engaging movement system than just moving at a single set pace like in older halo games. the set pace method of movement died in the early 2000s and before people reply saying "what about the new doom games they have set movement and are great" i will remind you that those games are the exception not the rule and all we need to doom to prove that gaming has move past set movement speeds in multiplayer shooters is take at look at doom 2016 and doom eternals failed multiplayer modes. people overwhelmingly prefer a far more engaging movement system and halo infinite had a fantastically engaging system

Plasma pistol doesn’t emp vehicles and they need to fix it. I don’t care about their goofy electric guns that emp…. The plasma pistol needs to EMP vehicles.

I hope they nerf the ravanger. Though it should shred shields, I don't think it should shred health. It takes 3-6 bolts to kill with it. That's 2 body shots or one headshot

i'd call halo infinites sprint more a synthesis than a compromise. fast sprint and no sprint have their pros and cons, but i think halo infinites system is a better than either system. of course it compromises between the two, but it creates a result greater than the parts. for example: - the barely faster (10% exactly, ignoring windup time) nature of sprint makes it behave exactly like halo 3 mlg speed (110% base movement speed), which increases engagement density on base movement speed scaled maps. - it not being permanent 110% speed keeps the required aim assist low and keeps the combat focused map scale, so sprint actualy has a speed advantage instead of just equaling shrunken players. so its more a synthesis of the best aspects of base halo 3 and halo 3 mlg speed. it fascilitating sliding is just a bonus on that. halo infinite having 10% too high player acceleration and base movement speed, making things a bit to jittery and hectic (effectively sweaty) and to wide gremade radius to conter these two facts are another issue.
