He could have schemed ,for the many times people have lied on Ruyi , to uncover you who was setting her up and could have made them fall flat on their faces like he did when the Imperial Noble Consort lied on Hailan. Its because he didnt trust her and wanted to see if it was true or not.

Do you remember the scene where the Emperor was talking to Yuhu about the investigation into who was behind the Empress Dowager's attempted stabbing and who told Ruyi about her father being dead? I don't get how Ruyi still "loved" him after this. The emperor is a straight up instigator and monster who has no redeeming qualities. I know a large part is supposed to be about how the throne "changed" him, but hard things don't change a person they just reveal the core of them. And at his core he freaking sucks!!~

I asked this question too...after he locked her in the cold palace and then easily believed she would cheat on him. Not the last time too. He started accusing the guard. He was more concerned about his ego than anyone's reputation. You can't slander the emperor and hardly any harem drama reached outside the palace so it was just one man controlling the narrative.
