What is the penalty if one of the sweepers slips and touches the rock?
@mcaddicts10 жыл бұрын
That's called a burnt rock and the rock is removed from play and if any rocks were touched those rocks return to their original position.

Thanks for the video! A (semi)local club's doing an open house in a couple weeks and I'll be doing my best to make my way over there. Should be interesting for sure! ...somewhat afraid I'll be off on my backside... wondering what type of shoes to even wear. Most of what I've got around is running shoes then some keens I kayak in. Can't imagine either will be ideal on Ice :o
@lenixter10 жыл бұрын
You should be fine with the running shoes, but bring the other pair as a back up. What Club are you going to?

I like how it's stated that Curling orignated outside on frozen lakes. Kind'a funny cuz, well ... obviously. It looks like fun. It's like giant shuffle board.

Pathetic way for non athletic people to get into Olympics .

Looks easier than it is, just like Alex Cheesman says. I'd be willing to set you up for a trial, then we can revisit your opinion!

Americans are just pissed China mastered curling before they could even figuer it out. Its probably as athletic as baseball minus the roids.
@jorrogboe10 жыл бұрын
mcaddicts the Chinese mastered everything before anyone knew about it...

Ok, but that has no relevance to this conversation.

But you stayed up all night and watched it for hours....and when you eventually try it, you will say "wow, it is harder than it looks, I guess I am not Athletic enough!"

Thirds can also be known as the Mate. The reason for this is because everyone has a " mate " someone they talk to or make discussions with the Skip. Therefore the mate is probably the most common name for them. I've been curling for 6 years :)

Excellent informational video! There are at least two clubs nearby, now I can go to a match (and watch on TV too) without feeling totally ignorant!
