P.S. It's called an "Air Raid Siren". Whether the ordnance is nuclear or conventional really doesn't matter anymore as the concept (siren) is really outdated (WW2/Cold-War). Emergencies are now broadcast via TV's, Radios, and most importantly Smartphones. (You know the amber alerts on your phone? Well there's other emergency warnings that can be sent out)

I 100% agree on the whole announcer talking to you. I hated it. Two years ago when I was in my first year of college towards the end of it I guess there was a glitch in the fire alarm so when I got off of work around 10pm I see people coming out my dorm ok fine. I went to bed around 11:30 I’m in a deep sleep and next thing I know I hear a man yelling attention attention etc etc. Now this put little 18 year old me in a panic it’s dark and I hear a man in my room and I’m by myself… it was a fire alarm again. That wasn’t even the last time that happened that night it happened four times and it traumatized me to where I couldn’t sleep without my lamp being on because I was scared a man would be in my dorm.
