I live about an hour away from Joplin. It was a city altering tornado for sure! It left a visible scar through Joplin you could see on Google maps! The Midwest weather just hits different...

As someone involved in human research, the whole "is it ethical to lie to people when it is the only way to get unaffected data" and the answer is basically yes. Like, how else could we get anything done? I can't tell the people in the morality study that we're judging their moral choices, or they will _change_ their choices. All we can do is do our best to minimize negative conequences and inform them that there could be some.
