I realise that even after all these years, I know this by heart. The timing is almost unbearably brilliant. Without doubt one of the finest comic plays ever made and with the freeview packed with repeats a sure-fire crowd pleaser

I do, though I'm not sure my VCR is still usable. A few months ago I couldn't get another tape to play without the sound being very muffled :-(
@kenadsh4235 жыл бұрын
@@BruceMardle ok - sounds like head alignment - that is easy to fix and with a good clean with some solvent, it should bring the sound back crisp and clear. As the manufacturer if they do that or try and find an 'old' video engineer !! lol

There is an F word in the dialogue; so can I know since when exactly the TV of UK allowed F words, and nudity ? I'm sure that was way before the American TV.
@dougalentendre47909 жыл бұрын
Ahmedabdelreheem I think we have always allowed this on UK TV - with viewer discretion and in context. American TV is sanitised because most Americans have no discretion and lack the ability to see language in the context of a piece of fiction. The American Dream is just that - a dream ! We in the UK are AWAKE !

I had this on video for decades til the tape unwound. My memory is it was on Channel 4 in the early days, which would make it early 80s. And that would fit with when the odd swear word started to appear on TV, not that it wasn't controversial at the time.
