Very nice video, I have one and definitely surprised me the first times I take it off road... The plastic skid plate is a little dangerous in that conditions, at least for the D5, the turbo/intercooler hose is the lowest part, so I'm planning to build or buy a metal skid plate.

@@DariusDrive I'm from Portugal, I use mine in soft sand without problems... Only wish it was possible to install some diff lockers, but so far I didn't find anything. Low gear transfer case it would be nice too... I also have a LR Discovery, and I have off-road experience. So, I can say for sure that XC90 is a a SUV with great off-road capacity, not a real off road vehicle but it surprises, I was not expecting anything like that.

Is the AWD on that car,allways on,or it's fwd,and when it needs traction,it distribute,power to all wheel's? I have a xc90 d5 from 2007,and i really don't know

AWD i believe only ever "drives" 2 wheels at a time, but works on the principle of a slip differential so where it senses the absence of traction it distributes a percentage of power/traction to the weakest tracking wheel,.. hence it becomes AWD if it senses that both the rear wheels are loosing purchase/grip.

Всё правильно, у нас передний привод 95% на заднюю ось 5% преднатяг. При пробуксовке передних колес, муфта Haldex блокируется и тяга идёт на задние колёса. Если этого мало на перед идёт имитация блокировки антипробуксовочной системой. По факту крутят 2 передних колеса и одно заднее-я так заметил в грязи на своей вольво

Traction ratio between the rest and front wheels is dynamic. AWD is on constantly, but the torque passed to the rear is minimal in good road conditions. Most drivers in this video floored their cars when it wasn't necessary. AWD system that's based on haldex uses available torture and is more precise if the torque is lower. The less the torque generated by the engine at given moment, the less stress and abuse goes to the haldex clutch, suspension and brakes when the AWD activates. Only if the car doesn't move forward, then give it more power, but only if it doesn't move. For the AWD in the XC90 to work correctly, the angle gearbox must be in good shape. It's shafts are weak and it's this model typical issue, due to bad design.
