Thank you for this video! Being a soft summer and a goth, I have battled not suiting black my whole life. I did wear it but it really clashed with my colours. But burgundy, soft dark purple, forest green and navy blue especially were game changers.

JUST 👏🏻 WEAR 👏🏻 BLACK 👏🏻 This. I am a Summer, and black is my power color. I feel amazing and only get compliments when I wear it; it requires makeup though. (Jewel tones are my second favorite). Color analysis was created and is primarily used for looking as "natural" as possible in "your colors". The whole concept of alternative look is opposite to that. For example, I've seen people say when discussing Dita von Teese or Taylor Momsen: 'When a person looks edgy in black, that's how you know they're not Winter/Autumn'. Ok, edgy sounds great! I see color analysis as a neat first step in navigating the array of effects that different colors can help you achieve. The second step is to decide what *you* want to do with it. So I salute you for offering both in-palette inspiration and examples of women looking gorgeous outside of it. As well as thoughtful tips, muse inspo, and next level production overall. You're a gem. Blessings! 🖤

@ochi Yeah! I'm lucky to be a goth while a dark winter, but, *with my personal preferences for myself*, if I was a summer, I'd be damned if my only proposed standard flattering inspo was The Love Witch. Not because there's anything wrong with that at all, the aesthetics there are gorgeous, but because it's just not my style and I imagine there's probably some soft summers out there with an interest in dark aesthetics who'd rather take inspo from the vampy brides than from the more cutesy looking TLW.

I am a summer and my best solution for dark motifs is to keep my main wardrobe items (dresses, tops, bottoms, etc.) within my season, and then my accessories (jewelry, shoes, hats) black. So basically black becomes an accent color in my otherwise summery wardrobe. Works real well!

I alway enjoy your unique take on how to look beautiful. Some additional suggestions I have for wearing black if it's not "in your season" is to wear sheer black, black lace or black fish net, something that shows skin through the black. I noticed on some of the Lana Del Ray outfits, she had black lace as an edge next to her decollete or sheer black, which softened the edge. Also wearing black so that there's some skin showing between the black and the face, such as a lower neckline, a deep V on an open black button up, etc. Even wearing something like a black spider web (someone should crochet a vest with this motif) over something in your colour season would work.

I'm most likely a soft summer and I think the contrast is almost of higher importance than the color palette. Soft Summer is a medium contrast. When I dye my hair blonde or pastel colors, I can pull of dark colors really really well. But lighter colors, from my palette make me look a bit sick sometimes because the contrast is overall too low for me. When I have very dark blonde (natural) or even brown hair, I have to wear lighter colors within my palette, dark will otherwise overwhelm me because the contrast is too high. I decided to keep my hair in colors that are considered too light for a soft summer, because I love wearing all black. It kind of pulls everything together and creates a medium contrast in the end.

First time I don't agree with something you said lol... I don't think Lana is a Summer. She seems pretty neutral in hair and skin tone and its hard to say with lighting and photo enhancements... But her eyes are distinctively muted ... Just don't think of the summer palette when I picture her.
@silkymochi9 ай бұрын
Absolutely allowed to have differing opinions 🖤 I definitely think she looks her best in cooler tones vs warmer shades so it eliminates Spring/Autumn and shes not saturated enough to any of the winters. Unfortunately there isnt a universal database of celebrities' seasons and theres so many other color season systems so its kind of hard to say 😂 but again we can have different opinions I just hope you found the video fun!
@dalibad11659 ай бұрын
@silkymochi Agreed, she's not a winter.. not a delicate Spring either.. I think the issue with her is some people are soo fluid. Just like body types every now n then, someone will have features that hit almost every type, which makes a very unusual mix. Lol this is so much fun for me! I love your content! Still, I can't help but notice you're partial to cool lol. Lana does not invoke colors like periwinkle, lavender, Classic Summer Colors.... and if you'll notice she looks best in deep teals, rich reds and peach makeup lifts her face and has a youthful glow Also, maybe our opinion of her palette are tainted by the palette she consciously picks. Which is predominantly cool.. Finally if you Google her and color season.. its an overwhelming Autumn warm vote.. showing how washed out she is in ice blonde ect
@silkymochi9 ай бұрын
It definitely could be, I actually wasnt going to use her for my video! I originally had Dakota Johnson slotted for my True Summer but I kept seeing videos on Lana Del Rey being a Summer and I delved into it - I hope it doesnt confuse anyone but I do love warm tones too, I spent many years trying to wear it especially during my Dark Academia phase lol

Such great examples here. Another is Diana Damrau dressed as Queen of the Night -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6allnWgprCGfbM&ab_channel=RoyalOperaHouse The performers are lit in a cool light purple. It's a very Summer feel that doesn't lean heavily on black in its visuals. The black is there, but it's partnering the purple, not dominating it.
