I love to watch old movies, and this was one of my favorites. I loved Robert Preston. He could make me laugh. Eve Arden played the pesky aunt. Dorothy McGuire was the mom and Shirley Night played, the girl. It was a touching movie, with a bit of humor, and a ahead of it's time. This play was pretty good, for a small theater. Bravo! 😊👍👍

I really loved this play. The acting was very good and it was really interesting how the people were seated just a few feet from the stage.

With Catholicism..... the child's religion is based on the father's. In the O/Testament, Judaism the woman, the mother's blood-line is followed , even today : The female line:

The little boy is supposed to be gay so they dance around it by inferring that he's a movie fanatic little sissy who is bullied by other kids. It was an auto-biographical play written by William Inge (who was gay).

Fake trite dialog and bad acting are a marriage made in hell ... couldn't get past the 10 minute mark where the father walked out the door on a sales trip with nothing but a harness in his suitcase coz I guess harness salesmen don't change their underwear while they're on them road. Really amateurish mistake.

They are laughing at Flirt's ignorance and the general ignorance of the time (early 1920s Oklahoma) and not Jews themselves.
