Having played Dark Chronicle in the PS2 many years ago and having had immense fun with it, it's wonderful to see that visually it has aged so well, looks great in 1080p. Truly one of the best RPG of all time, even though it gets a bit grindy at times; a game for the obsessive. Nice video.

I thank you guys so much at the PCSX2 team. When I was 12 I played Radiata Stories every day I came home it was my favorite childhood game but unfortunately my mom accidentally returned it. Now I'm 18 and have had the fortune to be able to play the game again on your emulator and it's bringing back so many great nostalgic memories.

That's the internal resolution, not my monitor's resolution, people keep confusing these 2. The internal resolution is the resolution the textures are rendered at, then they get scaled up or down, depending on your monitor's resolution.

You can set PCSX2 to run your game to whatever internal resolution you want. As the description says, I'm running this at 4x the native resolution (2048x1792 from the PS2's 512x448) making everything look super sharp ;)

AFAIK the patcher is not needed anymore, the wide screen archive already has a pnach patch for this game. You can find the link in any of our newer videos that display games with WS hacks, in the description

Man this game... So many memories. Second game I had for my PS2 :D. I still remeber me trying to figure out english when I got stuck in the part where you have to build the jungle and the build eyed tree. Never got past that. I just want to finish it now/

These are game files, not ISO images of the disc. To get a proper ISO image of the disc, you have to do what I posted above

Actually shortly after I found out that setting the Wild arms offset hack of GSdx to the second state, does fix the text artifacts here :)

Don't get that here, maybe some weird sound card / driver issue. Try setting SPU2-X to Dsound mode from XAudio and/or changing the interpolation options

I used the internal GSdx recorder (F12 to start, F12 twice to stop recording) but I was not getting full speed while recording. The internal recorder speeds up your video to 100% speed after you're done ;)

Using the GSdx internal recorder (pres F12 to start recording, F12 twice to stop), along with the x264vfw codec in lossless mode. Then I re-encode the video with the same codec with single pass 10000kbps and slow preset, and mux the audio compressing it with Lame MP3 160kbps, all using virtualdub :)

To get the BIOS from your PS2, check out the configuration guide on our website, BIOS section. The games, you can make ISO images of them using the free program imgburn

Are you using any speed hacks? If not, the other explanation would be that your 7970 is falling to 2D clocks because it detects low load, try forcing it to 3D mode (that's why your FPS is fine when the limiter is off, since then there is substantial load to trigger 3D more, maybe even processor speed step)

Yeah it should be good, although some games will have slowdowns even in native resolution because of that intel HD. Can you post the exact model of the CPU just to be sure?

It upscales the textures as they reach the gs so I guess it's not simply upscaling like the PS3 does.

Does it slow down when you use the heavy attacks, with the lava effects? If so, you need to reduce the internal resolution, or if it is at native already, you need a faster graphics card

Kingdom Hearts, Makai Kingdom, MGS3 to name a few. It only seems to be when a menu is entered, if that helps. The normal sounds/effects just seem outta wack, or wrong entirely. I tried a few settings (having to change some of them back to what they were before official release) and it still sounds wrong.

Yeah I usually get around 30-40 FPS while recording, but only in 1080p. I get full speed on 1280x720 :) Still, the internal recorder automatically speeds up the video to full speed when you stop it, so it's fine

All dialogue text has visible upscaling bugs, which obviously don't exist on the PS2. The game is rendered at 16:10, while the PS2 doesn't even support 16:9 for this game The game is rendered at a much higher resolution than on the PS2, 2048x1792 vs 512x448 which is visible on the much higher image quality. Satisfied yet? :P

i have an issue where if i look too far up in palm brinks, or i go into sindain, my screen goes all black, the game carries on running, but there is no visual, and if i pause, the colours are all messed up. any thoughts? (i have posted the same question in the forum)

PAL and NTSC are game regions. You need a different patch for a different region game (they don't work on all game regions even if it's the same game)

Yeah you can just put it in the tray, select 'Plugin' in the CDVD menu, configure the CDVD plugin to point to your dvddrive letter and boot it. Or you can make an iso image of your disc and run it with the internal iso reader ;)

i think I have used this on my satelite core2Duo toshiba. It kinda lags or speedy. Did it improved? Also in FFX it really lags when ifrit uses his fireball tecnique.

Yeah you will be able to use it a little :P That processor only boosts to 3 Ghz with 1 core active and to 2,8 Ghz with 2 cores active. If you use the MTVU speed hack with PCSX2, you will be using 3 cores, thus you will only be at 1,9 Ghz which isn't enough for good speeds on most games I was getting 60 FPS most of the time with MGS3 except some select few areas, where I just had to reduce the internal resolution due to the 9800GTX being over its head :P Async mix helps when you get FPS drops yea
