Dark Cloud 2 - Correct way to fish with Lure Rod (with proof)

Tested this theory: / dark_cloud_2_lure_fishing
1. Just quickly wiggle your left analog around some 10 times (direction doesn't matter)
2. Wait 2 second
3. Repeat (up to 4~5 times)
4. Fish should bite at around 3-4 iteration. Otherwise recast (or wait until other time)
No superstitious konami code, no reeling needed. Tempo don't even matter. You don't need a music grad degree to fish. Just shake your left analog like mad and then wait.
What I've concluded after testing:
Most likely the fish will bite after 3 or 4 iterations. It's pointless to continue after 5, just recast.
The no-bite cast reason could be:
RNGod just determine that it's a no-bite (pretty rare really)
It's just the wrong time of the day. In the video you can see Baku-baku (which can be caught by Minnow or Spinner) hit at around 10:30AM until around 11:30PM. From midnight to until 10:30AM it won't bite at all.

lol we used to often think that games were so much more complex than they were and the devs loved the idea of convincing the players obviously. replaying these games taught me that.

I swear every single guide I read talks about different tested methods of doing the lures, and how each lure has a different rhythm. Then there's this video, which I've followed with the different lures and it works the same for every single one. I can't believe how far this myth has gone.

further testing: it seems rotating the analog 360 degrees instead of just left to right did make this method work for me occasionally.

This never works for me. Maybe because i'm on the wrong version of the game. I know there is a v1.0 and v2.0. I even tested it with save states on PCSX2. same cast your method did nothing. But my method (left 4 times, right 4 times, lure in for 2 seconds) got me a Baron Garayan.

How do I know what you're doing wrong without seeing how you're doing 😅 If you're sure you're doing it correctly, then it might just be the time of day or lure type problem. To be certain you're doing the fishing step correctly, try catching a Baron Garayan, it's the most well-researched fish in the game: darkcloud.fandom.com/wiki/Baron_Garayan > They (Baron Garayan) can be caught in Heim Rada's hotsprings between 4 PM and 9 PM. They can only be caught using a Fork lure. If you use correct Fork lure and at the correct time, it's almost 100% the Baron will bite. Catching it is hard but certainly possible even with a fresh rod.
