I would imagine some modders might be able to fix Seda right up. Having been a fan of both of the duology since release (I got a PS2 specifically for DC1, and then it went uphill from there), it makes me proud to see the small yet growing slowly Dark Cloud community keep the series alive.

While being able to play as Seda sounds amazing, we have to remember a big part of WHY playing as Seda would be such an experience. Seda is the man responsible for all of the events of Dark Cloud. He struck the devil's deal, he laid waste to armies, and he even turned his own people against him out of fear of his new power. This all lead up to him birthing the Dark Genie, causing him to scar the world with the forbidden time spell to try and stop it. But despite his best efforts, all he could do was sacrifice himself to give a child a chance to fight his greatest battle for him. Even if Seda was originally meant to be playable, I highly doubt he would've had such a powerful story unfold. The very story we are reading from the start of the game. TL;DR While Seda is awesome, it's mainly his story that makes him so cool. I'm ultimately glad he ended up the way he did and that Osmond exists. 🙂

Seda is definitely more exciting to play with than Osmond. But Osmond's eventual part in the game was so great that I don't know if I want it replaced.

@@alibaghdady9710 The PS4/5 version is so handy because it allows the game's to be enjoyed by a whole new audience and open up for easy stream support! This series needs a proper HD Remaster! Imagine if they added behind the scenes detailing all the cut content in an extras menu! We can only dream 😂

Can anyone just imagine a Dark Cloud prequel manga based on every piece of Seda's memory or a 4-koma manga based on the game? I can just imagine a scene where, after the fake Dark Genie is destroyed by the Sun Cannon from the Sun Giant, it also tears a huge hole in the castle and I can just imagine Seda screaming out "DAMN IT! I just replaced that!" while the real Dark Genie was talking to Toan.

I would've preferred Seda. I think it's weird that he basically only shows up once in the beginning, then near the end to die. It would've been cool to have this mysterious character that's been following you around/seems like a villain actually join you party and help. Heck, if you want to keep the plot as is, Seda could join the party in the last chapter as a ghost that can only exist in the Gallery of Time, guiding Toan to collect his memories, and you can play as him there. (And then of course after defeating the dark genie once and all, you can play as him in other dungeons too.)

From what we know, Seda sounds like he would've just been stupidly overpowered and made everyone else irrelevant, so yeah I think I prefer Osmond, because Osmond is also a powerful late game character, but he isn't designed in such a way that it renders everyone else useless.

Hey Derrick, agreed 101% I think Seda would have been an excellent addition after beating the Dark Heaven Castle to use for the Demon Shaft; we could use his over powered abilities in the difficult dungeon! 🥳

I'm glad Osmond made it in the final cut. One because I think a space rabbit makes for a cool character. And two because I feel like gameplay-wise, Seda's two-handed sword style would have been redundant alongside the other melee characters.

I would've loved to play Seda and found some way to buff Xiao to cross the larger holes somehow at Yellow Drops. On a side note however since it isn't talked about much, is there any relation to Seda and King Raybrandt from Dark Chronicle? They have a very similar model but it is unclear if it is simple reusing of models, but given how similar both characters look regardless as well as their rooms in both games, it's hard to ignore yet there is no concrete information on it!

@@DarkCloudCompendium First time indeed! I always have Dark Cloud in the back of my mind so it's been interesting to see a rather strong fandom even now! I did indeed see the model some time earlier, but I've seen conflicts over the timelines since besides some returning characters like Master Utan and Osmond along with even the Dark Genie(fake), it's been difficult to tell when DC2 exactly takes place. I noticed you had a similar question asked in your Dark Cloud 2's Beta Secrets video as well! I did check out the iceberg videos and having remembered what Monica's mother looked like, I would believe honestly that the Raybrandt's are either far off descendants in the worst case scenario, or just Seda and Sophia after some years, and probably some slight changes whether its development based or otherwise! Personally I believe that it just wasn't a focus on last names too often since to my knowledge, Flagg Gilgister is the only character in Dark Cloud with a first and last name, or due to the lack of time during development...but that's just a theory.

@@DavidKing407 The amount of cut content seen in this series is truly bizzare, it makes you wonder if the art for Monica's parents was done because they were going to be seen in game but scrapped at the last minute. Playable Seda being cut was a mystery for the community for about 20 years until we solved it. The best thing about Dark Cloud is that there are still plenty of mysteries to discover, this channel is going to document them all! 🥳🌟

@@DarkCloudCompendium That certainly would be an interesting theory! Especially with Monica's mother being completely absent entirely! Almost makes me wonder for both games in general what would happen if Level 5 had sort of a Fromsoft development cycle where they got many years and didn't have to rush! On one hand both games are still absolutely amazing, but especially now it'd be quite interesting! Playable Seda was what I've wanted since I was a kid, but never in a million years did I think he actually existed! I still wonder if there's ever a possibility of bringing him back entirely with some modding work...maybe not the buffing/debuffing from the beta's, but even something close to Ungaga's basic combo but with the Dark Genie's eye laser as his chargeup move would be a good upgrade with assets that still exist in the game! It'd be even better to get an original moveset though ideally of course. Looking forward to more stuff you put out though! It's really cool seeing the passion you put into the deep dives and seeing a community still thriving, I saw a bit with Cedric's VA doing his voice for one of your videos and man, it's a cool thing when someone still has it, you know?

The Dark Cloud series is my favorite franchise of all time. I wish it would come back from the past. Just think, certain conditions weren’t met for Dark Cloud to make it into the future. The only Georama event we had no control over. :(

@@DarkCloudCompendium Oh man, there is so much. Firstly I want hd remakes of the first two games. And Dark Cloud 3. Oh man… I want it to have the combat system of 1. (Without weapon disappearing) I want more georama stuff in 3. Perhaps the other side of the region in Dark Cloud 2. I wanna see more monsters. That’s such a loaded question, maybe a pet system akin to pokemon but using dark cloud monsters. More time travel stuff and how affecting the past changes the future and get more complex with it, like have multiple timelines in different areas. Like you can have more of a choice how the end result of your georama location will be like, like can you imagine instead of sindain becoming a tree mall, instead there’s an alternate timeline where the tree is withered and a different set of shops take place, maybe the surrounding area could be a shrine to pay respects to the fallen tree spirit.

Playable Seda would have been interesting, but I'm used to Osmond, especially with him being in the 2nd game. I never really used him as by the time we got him I didn't have enough time to grind and get good weapons for him.

@@DarkCloudCompendium Hell yeah. Except for when it crashes the game, though! Still, I love the overall design of the Moonlight, especially the older incarnations. With how similar Seda's beta sword is visually, you gotta wonder if it was maybe a nod to FromSoft. As for who I'd prefer to have as a playable character... I think Osmond, honestly! He might be ridiculously strong having a literal machine gun, but I feel like Seda, being who he is, would need to have the dark power stripped from him to not be even more OP.

Hey Cesar, it's good to hear from you again I hope you enjoyed this video! 😄 The guns were and but there's some interesting history behind that:📚 Osmond was created out of a response by Level 5 from Sony as they had to remove Seda due to the deadline put by Sony but still needed a 7th playable character, that's the reason why he has the least weapons out of the rest of the crew and has the simplest animations. Now what's interesting is the beta Chronicle Sword's design resembles Seda's large broadswords perhaps it was re-used for Toan and then redesigned entirely; that would mean that they made and completed other weapons for Seda which we never saw; more lost media for the future Dark Cloud Icebergs haha! 🤔

Hey DangerSideburns, I remember chatting with you in our Dark Cloud 3 AI Video great to hear from you again! I think it would have been really cool to see Seda be playable as per Level 5's initial vision for Dark Cloud; maybe we'll get an HD release one day that fixes this issue 🤠

It's always great to talk with another fan of this series 🌟 @@DangerSideburns What's interesting is that Seda's gameplay was planned to be to be unique and more complex than others as he would have used Spells and Swordplay, being able to buff your characters and debuff enemies 🌌🤔 Definitely a different play style that's for sure! I wouldnt be surprised if Level5 reused those concepts for Monica in Dark Cloud 2 💯😄 If only we got a Remaster that includes Seda or more cut content 😤
