After some measure of reconciliation with King David, Absalom began to build his public image. For four years he sowed a spirit of discontent among the Israelites and offered himself as their hope for resolution. Absalom’s persona fed his political objective-namely, to usurp David’s throne. In response to his son’s rebellion, David fled Jerusalem-a decision, notes Alistair Begg, made not out of fear but in the wisdom and knowledge that no manmade plot can overturn God’s steadfast love and faithfulness toward His people.

If God forgave David, He will forgive us. The enormity and the frequency of our sins is not His focus. He wants us to repent. I don't understand how God can forgive us but we must believe this and not be deceived by the enemy.

God forgives us because Jesus Christ went to the cross and paid the price for us. God's will is that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. And that truth is that God Himself has become our Saviour and He who knew no sin became sin for us. We are saved when we believe that we are sinners (repentance) and trust that it was for my sins that Jesus Christ died was buried and rose again from the dead. God not only forgives you but imputes to you the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

More in-depth than I was expecting and should be studied more yet one perspective that hit home is the need for all of us to study the Word of God more using 'Strong's' Concordance to help with our understanding of the words used and the known meaning at their time! In culture, the meaning of words change in the perception of the hearer. So how to understand is the requirement of the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of God's Word so that mankind that has an ear to hear will receive the intended message from God. If I may add one observation in the KJV (2 Samuel 15:7) And it came to pass after ***forty years***, that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto the Lord, in Hebron.***Absalom had 40 not 4 years...a very long time to cement his evil plot. Thanks for this message ; very timely for us in these troubling times.

The KJV does say forty years, but the NIV says 4 years. I love the KJV, but I have to go with the NIV as King David's rule was 40 years (7 years in Hebron and 33 in Jerusalem). Absalom could not have waited 40 years as this would have taken him outside of King David's whole reign.

a few things to always consider when reading the Bible: I will list them in order for easy reading: 1) The Bible is the tree of knowledge of good and evil, hence the SONG OF MOSES, Deut 32, 33, God says, I have set evil and good before you, darkness and light (which are life and death) and he wants Israel to CHOOSE: Seeing the BOOK as the CHOICE MAKER or 'WILL MAKER" is the first thing to grasp: The TORAH is a tree of life to those who grasp it. CHOICE OR WILL is the GOAL OF GOD in making MAN, hence MAN= Will in the Bible and Jesus is the "MAN", the express image of God who came to DO THY WILL oh God and when he is born, the angels announce him with "PEACE ON EARTH and GOOD WILL to MAN" but I add, also "IN MAN" which is really the important part. 2) REVELATION is the UNCOVERING (apokolypse means unveiling) of Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ, the LIGHT of God in us, actually reveals the antichrist which is in every person: Antichrist is the "spirit of the world" we are trained in and Satan is the god of this world and Jesus had to overcome Satan in the wilderness just like our heart does when it too is taken into the wilderness like Israel was taken into the wilderness to overcome the world and this ROCK, the Christ, Messiah does it IN HIS PEOPLE. So all the symbolism, allegory, parables, metaphor in the BIBLE are about US and how we perceive the "SPIRITUAL FORCES" (spiritual warfare) of evil and good within us, told in parables and metaphors. 3) Revelation 13 speaks of how the BEAST which is the heart of mankind (the heart is wicked above all things) comes out of the SEA (SUBCONCIOUS) the hidden part of mankind, because the REVLEATION OF JESUS CHRIST is revealing the evil root of the tree so it can be overcome and we are the trees of knowledge of evil and good: WE HAVE TWO ROOTS through the first Adam in whom we all died (I Cor 15), Satan and Christ and the GOOD ROOT, the GOOD WILL CHRIST, must RISE IN US and reveal the evil root and then the spiritual warfare in heavenly places becomes clarified and the good will NOW OVERCOMES the evil root IN US. So the beast is the heart or the subconscious desires that are now revealed but what about the other beast? 4) The other beast is from the CONSCIOUS mind (earth) and the horns are rays of light and there are crowns given to us by the LIGHT but these also reveal BLASPHEMY in us that has to still be overcome by the CHRIST, the LIGHT IN US. Here our beasts look like a lamb but it still speaks like a dragon (THE EVIL ROOT) that Adam and Eve choose while DENYING THE GOOD ROOT (CHRIST) who was from the BEGINNING and the choice we all have to eventually make to overcome the evil root that we live from till we chose the GOOD ROOT (OF JUDAH, DAVID) because here God turns everything around in us. It is written, every EYE shall see and every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess Jesus Christ to the GLORY of the Father. David (means beloved) is the DEEP and GOOD part of the heart of Mankind that must give birth to the GOOD SEED because he is the GOOD GROUND of the heart, the virgin ground of being (MARK 4) where the seed of the woman must FALL and bring forth 30, 60, 100 fold) the FULL STATURE OF THE INNER MAN of our heart. God chose the heart to come through (hence the CHOSEN is the FAVORED PART of us) and not the mind which is where most people try to know God and can NEVER KNOW HIM there first: He is born first through the woman (the heart, the DESIRE) JOHN 16, explains, this is HOW JESUS CHRIST RETURNS TO EVERYONE, through the TRAVAIL OF THE WOMAN the heart: THEN this CHILD SHALL LEAD IN RENEWING THE rest of the heart (Mark 4) and the mind (through BENJAMIN, Saul who becomes Paul): There is more to understand but without understanding this PARABLE according to Jesus in Mark 4, you will never understand any parable and then you are just reading the Bible with your carnal mind which is the FALSE PROPHET and the SEED of the serpent: Since the heart is as a BEAST BEFORE GOD,(Psa 73:22 I was so foolish and ignorant, I was as a BEAST before you)- till Christ makes the heart "MAN", the Mark of the beast is WISDOM because it makes "MAN' so that mark is the WORD (charagma-the LETTER etched) in the heart that kills the beast and FORMS THE MAN: Hence it is written, the LETTER KILLS: 6-vov, the third letter in Gods name, 60 = samech (the wedding ring or the SOUL that comes out of the ego and carnal, fleshly mind, to be TAKEN UP (rapture) with Christ to sit in heavenly places, while you work out your salvation here on earth like the apostle Paul shows us it happens. The 100 fold (qoph-the letter with a value of 100, like the 100 sheep Jesus gathers back into the sheepfold) are the LOWER DESIRES (those below the mercy seat) that must also RISE FOR GOD and follow him wherever he goes, meaning even our MIND is renewed eventually to be as "HIS MIND" given to us when Christ was first REVEALED in us, because we are the great cloud of witnesses that BOTH SEE and HEAR HIM as he rises from our root, making it our crown so the anointing can FLOW DOWN, the BLOOD OF GOD that heals the whole body. So what is MAN? We already know according to the Bible Man is the express image and likeness of God: BUT what does that mean? We have to KNOW GOD through becoming his IMAGE and LIKENESS or we can NOT KNOW HIM. God reveals himself THROUGH THE MAN he is making us to become. It is written, God forms the spirit of MAN within him (within his heart and mind). In MAN God reveals the evil and good force as ONE, meaning the desire (evil) and WILL (GOOD) work together to bring PEACE ON EARTH. HOW? By filling the desire with good WILL continually. What is the GOOD WILL? It is the unconditional LOVE for all, because God is love and his EXPRESSION through MAN is that LOVE towards all. If it is not for all, then MAN is not yet COMPLETE in God.

One thing you miss is that Absalom was God's justice to David. The reason God allowed Absalom to succeed for a time is because David didn't give justice to Tamar, and Absalom was correct to say that he would seek for justice where David wouldn't. David's lack of justice and discipline regarding his sons, received God's discipline. If Absalom had chosen to serve God and not seek his own justice, God would possibly have chosen him as David's heir?

Isaiah 53:5, he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed. For salvation, we just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in water for the removal of sins and filled with the Holy Ghost. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is. Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, And they continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Don't get Titus 3:5 mixed up with James 2:14-26, about WORKS. One is a WORK of your OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS OR GOOD DEEDS and the other is a WORK OF FAITH. Titus 1:16, They profess that they know God; but in WORKS they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Baptism is not required for salvation. For by grace are you saved through faith, not of works lest anyone should boast. Baptism is an outward sign of obedience and faith but salvation and forgiveness of our sins comes from Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection. You lessen the sacrifice made on the cross by making something we do(baptism) a requirement for salvation or forgiveness.

I'll be waiting for the scriptures stating that baptism is not required and that it's only for an outward sign of obedience. I can't find that anywhere in the bible. God used water even in Noah's time. He used water in Moses's time twice when he was saved in the little ark and when he brought the people out of Egypt. Two savings both by water. 1 Peter 3:21.
