I absolutely loved their website where you could pick the episode you're caught up with, and read all the little details about the plot and the characters that you might have missed. As someone who really struggles keeping up with subtle things in shows, and remembering loads of characters, this was absolutely invaluable, and I really really hope more shows make sites along the same idea. It was just SUCH an improvement, as typically I would have had to go to the shows wiki, to read about everything I might have missed, and inevitably get spoiled by things that would happen in further episodes (especially character deaths). Honestly just amazing show, and the creators obviously care a lot about the watcher being able to follow along such a complicated storyline.

In the last episode, the remaining people that actually exist are gather for diner, oddly enough for me, Katharina is also there. My question is.. Of course Katharina doesn't born from the loop, but shouldn't she be exist because Hannah is not going to the past so she doesn't met Katharina's mother? I mean, I always think the reason why Katharina born is because her mother chose to not get an abortion and change her mind after she met Katharina a.k.a real Hannah who travel back to past. Name "Katharina" itself was actually coming from the loop right? EXCEPT.. there is another loop created OR.. I'm just dumb and there I missed something, so I should watch the entire series again lol

Completely agree with you !! Contrary to what everyone believes, I think that things in Dark don't actually happen in "cycles", despite what the characters say, everything only happened once, but in the characters' perspectives everything repeats itself infinitely. Snd Claudia didn't destroy the knot by gathering info through the cycles, instead Claudia was predetermined to destory it
@cryoboy3 жыл бұрын
1 day after the series finale came out and people started discussing it on youtube, I posted several long rants trying to explain that, no matter what people on reddit and the characters in the show themselves claim, there is no such thing as a "loop". That is not what's happening at all. Time just moves in a straight line. Some characters just travel back to the past, meet their younger self and start talking about how they already experienced this moment in time and things are repeating and looping and moebius etc. but they really aren't. Their world existed before the earliest events shown in the show and continues existing in the postapocalypse after the last point of view character dies or travels back. There is never a point where anything resets or starts over in any way. Your comment is literally the first time I see someone actually agreeing with me and even making this point on their own so thank you, I needed this.
@raghad28993 жыл бұрын
@@cryoboy same here !!!!! It drives me insane ! Because everyone was so confused as to how Claudia "broke free of the cycle", posting insane theories like the famous one where Claudia gathered info through the cycles (which actually contradicts how endless loops work) and I never saw anyone question them... And even worse, some were saying that it's a plot hole ! I seriously doubted myself ! I feel validated now, thanks ! But I do get where this confusion comes from, the characters (mainly Adam) keep talking about time as such, but when they do it's more metaphormical/thematic, which is another talk on its own !

Both shows are worth the watch, folks just need to separate the themes. 12 Monkeys is entertainment, Dark is thought experiment, both come with their rewards. I'm always amazed at how awed people are by these kinds of stories, and it just shows most people have no knowledge of classic sci-fi and definitely haven't read many books in this genre. Time paradox stories are aplenty in written form, and although Dark is really good (not just story-wise but in production, acting, etc) it is certainly not groundbreaking. Robert A. Heinlein was particularly good at this, with The Door Into Summer (novel) and By His Bootstraps (short story) being two examples of time paradox tales that work in a loop and have almost certainly inspired the writers of Dark. I really liked the show, but calling it the best ever is something I'm hesitant to agree with. Sci-fi is more to do with the human element than the "scientific" portion of the name, and although Dark covered all bases I can't say it has left a stronger impression than others productions of the genre.

I enjoyed your commentary. Thank you for your praises and emphasis on the science and quantum mechanics that feed the philosophical narrative. I acted as Science-Advisor, as well as Second Narrative Continuity Supervisor on all three seasons. Nevertheless, the true heroes here are Baron and Jantje :) In the relatively limited time ™️ We had together in pre-production of ‘Cycle One,’ they were able to follow along, absorb, and retain The better part of a century of history in Quantum Mechanics. What’s more, they were able to clearly illuminate all the key landmarks, while somehow simplifying them in such a profound way that that the audience would not become lost on the journey. Due to the nature of my involvement, I knew where the macro outline was headed from the beginning, and yet I was not prepared for what they had truly accomplished. I had my doubts that anyone would be able to pull off The most complex cinematic story ever told. Nevertheless, when the Series was officially released to the public, I too expected a realistic level of ‘immediate’ success. What a lonely and frustrating place it was, to wait so long for the world to catch on. Better late than never 😉 DANKE❣️✌🏻 -DCIPS, GG-14// NASIC

@Indrid Cold thank you for your work with Dark! Best series ever! I want to know how they came up with the idea for it if they didn’t know about physics? Ha! What or when is the Origin of DARK?

I saw the finale this way: the cicle existed infinite and never. I think thats the way of solve it: cause Claudia ended it, it means it never existed, but as it was repeting it was infinite. In physics i understand that infinites can "cancel" each other to create a finite solution. Infinite repetition an nothingness are just two infinites that cancelled each other. It just gives another meaning level to the intro: for neigther ever nor never (infinite and nothing)

This show is by far the most underrated show on earth. It is right up there as far as it’s greatness with Twin Peaks, Breaking Bad and S1 of True Detective.

You've got yourself a new subscriber. This was a fantastic analysis. I might have found this video and this channel a bit late, but I'm very glad I have. And I think I'm proof of why this show was so wonderful - years later, I'm still searching for and watching videos to see how Dark was understood by others.

I loved this show so much, watched it with subtitles because I wanted to get every piece of dialog but also don’t like dubbing. I would have to pause a lot as I’m a slow reader, lol! Still worth it totally. It was definitely the piece of entertainment that I can remember “blowing my mind” the most. The aspects of infinite loops in reference especially to the mom of the daughter (can’t recall the names now) as well as the daughter of the mom just kind of broke my brain! Thank you for the recommendation for 12 Monkeys. The movie is one of my favorites and I’d forgotten they’d made a tv show of it!

Of course I'm barely finding this now. Dark is such a phenomenal show. I've watched it over and over. I literally sometimes rewatched it just so I can watch the intro. Sad that it's over but ended perfectly.
