▸ Who Is Batman: Batman is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and debuted in the 27th issue of the comic book Detective Comics on March 30, 1939. In the DC Universe continuity, Batman is the alias of Bruce Wayne, a wealthy American playboy, philanthropist, and industrialist who resides in Gotham City. Batman's origin story features him swearing vengeance against criminals after witnessing the murder of his parents Thomas and Martha as a child, a vendetta tempered with the ideal of justice. He trains himself physically and intellectually, crafts a bat-inspired persona, and monitors the Gotham streets at night. Kane, Finger, and other creators accompanied Batman with supporting characters, including his sidekicks Robin and Batgirl; allies Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, and Catwoman; and foes such as the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face, and his archenemy, the Joker.
Kane conceived Batman in early 1939 to capitalize on the popularity of DC's Superman; although Kane frequently claimed sole creation credit, Finger substantially developed the concept from a generic superhero into something more bat-like. The character received his own spin-off publication, Batman, in 1940. Batman was originally introduced as a ruthless vigilante who frequently killed or maimed criminals, but evolved into a character with a stringent moral code and strong sense of justice. Unlike most superheroes, Batman does not possess any superpowers, instead relying on his intellect, fighting skills, and wealth. The 1960s Batman television series used a camp aesthetic, which continued to be associated with the character for years after the show ended. Various creators worked to return the character to his darker roots in the 1970s and 1980s, culminating with the 1986 miniseries The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller.
DC has featured Batman in many comic books, including comics published under its imprints such as Vertigo and Black Label. The longest-running Batman comic, Detective Comics, is the longest-running comic book in the United States. Batman is frequently depicted alongside other DC superheroes, such as Superman and Wonder Woman, as a member of organizations such as the Justice League and the Outsiders. In addition to Bruce Wayne, other characters have taken on the Batman persona on different occasions, such as Jean-Paul Valley / Azrael in the 1993-1994 "Knightfall" story arc; Dick Grayson, the first Robin, from 2009 to 2011; and Jace Fox, son of Wayne's ally Lucius, as of 2021. DC has also published comics featuring alternate versions of Batman, including the incarnation seen in The Dark Knight Returns and its successors, the incarnation from the Flashpoint (2011) event, and numerous interpretations from Elseworlds stories.

Its the opening salvo, the new bad guys always win the first battles so that builds dramatic tension before the final conflict. Plus they are OP as heck! Its basically Batman, with his genius and access to alien tech loses his moral foundation and goes full on crazyville!

If you think about it with Batman's resources and drive should he ever go bad it would be damn scary. He's damn scary and he's a good guy. He does what he does with no powers outside of being rich and crazy ninja type skills. Add super powers and a reason to absolutely hate a target Batman could end the world should he choose. Of course it's just an intro to show what they are up against, but also the idea of to beat monsters they may need to do monstrous things. I think this is a great story that may adjust DC's character dynamic until the next Retcon.

I have to tell you something that might seem odd at first but make sense as I go on. I watch what I would consider to be a lot of videos and I like the pace of your videos. They aren't too fast or slow. You take exactly the right amount of time in my opinion to explain things about the subject you talk about. There are people I watch who take 3 minutes to explain something so fast that I can barely know what they were talking about because their words are slurred together and sound like a blur. On the other end of that people take almost 30 minutes to talk about something that should take at most 10 minutes. You have figured out the perfect ratio of time to content in your videos and I love going to your channel for all my comic learning needs. Plus you have the best voice in the business. I don't understand Bryce's shift from: "Oh, I'll defeat the Atlanteans by any means necessary," to "I'ma drown the everything." It might've been more interesting if the Atlanteans used a super-weapon, after Bat(wo)man called their bluff . . . effectively drowning the planet, and her hopes, which would actually make her the Drowned -- not the One who Drowns. Someone who had to choose between letting Humanity go extinct or forcibly alter their biology; after all, isn't it her job to save people by any means available? Just my take.

I like how every dark knight we've seen so far has his/her own dark and twisted force with them. Right ? I'm always amazed by how, when Comic book heroes go mad they suddenly develop the genius to create some insane things. In all these metal issues, batman has basically used resources he's always had to surpass members of the JL in power. Dominated flash's will and took over the speed force, genetic mods that basically surpass the evolutionary capabilities of aquaman & all Atlantis , An AI with the the ability to assimilate cyborg (braniac 2.0 ?), THE POWER TO POISON the entire green spectrum and overpower the combine force of the guardians and most powerful green lanterns (as a teenager no less). This is the ultimate 'Cuz Batman' and you know when bats beats barbatos and all these evil batmans with no powers it'll be an even bigger "CUZ BATMAN"

I've already figured out the origins of "The Man Who Laughs". Back in his early (and clumsy) days, Batman fought The Red Hood. But in this universe, it was Bruce that fell into the vat of chemicals, instead of Hood. In turn, it dyed his skin. Now, being unable to separate Bruce from Batman (due to skin issue), he went insane. Just as the Joker did, but with different motivations. Maybe the Red Hood returned and ended up killing Alfred. I don't know. But in his insanity, Bruce made a deal and started to use the Lazarus Pit. Which drove him more insane. His Robins were killed and placed into the pit also and kept as crazed children.

I love this evil water thing going on. Like how most fictional stories go they have a really strong bad guy that controls and gets strength from the cold. For example: Witch king of Angmar, The Lynch King in warcraft, Night King of Game of thrones. This evil version of batman is so similar to them that she even corrupts or bends their will to her own. The dead water is very similar to the wraiths and wight walkers from the other stories. Its a really well done twist. But they use dark magic as to explain how its done but shes doing it at a “scientific” level. Its a very cool and batman thing of doing so.
