In DC, the Endless are things above gods, but you are pretty on point, they ARE, what their names are, but it seems they are not required for that thing to continue. For example, in Sandman, Destruction quit being one of the Endless. He decides he was tired of being like that and decided to live among people and in fact hid from his fellow endless for a very long time. Also, the Endless can change, Delirium, is revealed to have originally have been Delight. But I think it was Destruction quitting which caused her to change. In the image you showed of Delirium, the dog with her, was Destruction's dog at first. Delirium kind of forced Dream to help her find Destruction - it's a great story line. But one other thing you are very on point on, Dream showing up is HUGE. I think Dream has only shown up to interact with DC heroes like 3 or so times. The first was in the beginning of Sandman where he encounters John Constantine for the first time and Martian Manhunter. An hey, Rob, if you would like to chat ever, would love to, I am a 51 yr old comic fan and have been so since I was 3, so needless to say, I remember a thing or 2.
@lordr1c3257 жыл бұрын
Hey Rob i know that you didnt really delve too deep into who Dream of the Endless was but it should be noted that this version of Dream is the grandson of Carter Hall named Daniel Hall. There's ALOT of history regarding his character, some of it a little confusing and convoluted but still pretty cool nonetheless.
@namjoonssexybrain16797 жыл бұрын
El Rice Wait, so that’s not the Dream I’m thinking of from Sandman? Or is that him?
@lordr1c3257 жыл бұрын
Lord Beric Dondarrion I'm not sure what you mean since Sandman is a title used to refer to Dream of the Endless. But if you're referring to the Sandman that Rob showed in the vid, then no. That one i think is called Morpheus or something. This one that shows up in Metal #1 is Daniel Hall. He is Morpheus' successor.
@Fortunateis4luck7 жыл бұрын
Lord Beric Dondarrion Morpheus “died”(passed on) and Daniel Hall is his successor (reincarnation) because Dream is immortal. The Sandman comic is quite coy about whether he actually died(even though there was a funeral for him by His Siblings) or whether Carter is actually him reincarnated.
@thomasclawson71837 жыл бұрын
Daniel is both Daniel Hall and Dream. When an Endless 'dies' (and it can be considered death, as Death comes to her siblings at their 'end') they are 'replaced' by themselves. This being both is and isn't the previous Endless. They have all of the memories and experience and view themselves as the same creature, but they understand that they have come after and that there was a previous. To put it in much much simpler terms; Daniel is the Form, Dream is the Spirit.
@namjoonssexybrain16797 жыл бұрын
El Rice I meant is he the same one from the Sandman comics, but the rest of your comment answers it for me, I never finished Sandman, haha. I need to. Thanks for answering my question, both you and the other two, very helpful!

If you really like those kinds of things, you should totally check out the Sandman series that Rob references (and that Dream is the main character in; though you see plenty of the other Endless as well). I own the hardback collection of the whole series, and it was worth every penny. One of the few series I've actually enjoyed enough to go back and read multiple times (not to mention has tons of foreshadowing elements that you catch the second time around as well.)

In case people are wondering, the Endless are conceptual beings that are able to survive reboots of the multiverse. They retain memories of every iteration of the DC Multiverse, which makes them among the most powerful and significant characters ever created in DC comics, even if half the readers have no idea who they are.

Scott Snyder is amazing. This Arc and the whole idea of the Dark Multiverse us great. A set of universes doomed to end and some batmen from those universes sided with a demon to take over the positive Multiverse
@omegalock35497 жыл бұрын
It makes you sympathize with a lot of them. They push themselves to places they normally wouldn't and after all their sacrifices learn that their world is doomed to fail from the beginning. Of course they'd come and take over the positive multiverse.
@venoumusgammer41127 жыл бұрын
Omega Lock ikr. Kinda sad. They fell to a point they normally wouldn't to be better Herod just for it to be futile
@CNNBlackmailSupport7 жыл бұрын
VenoumusGammer here is the part that bugs me... sure, doomed to fail, I get it. But WHEN did they fail? This implies that all those universes just happened to fail at the same time based on Batman related cause of death. Were they "destined to fail" if they all lasted billions of years? Apparently they were all going fine until our Batman, in our age, suffered some loss. Dawnbreaker is both the worst and best example, because he's the only true universe ender, but he's also the one that was evil the longest. Hell, the drowned didn't even end the universe, just earth. She's not a universal threat like red death and dawnbreaker are. The logic is inconsistent unless a)barbatos can alter time. B) Gotham (or earth) is the focus of whether a universe is a fail or not. C) in every dark universe, Batman is Bruce Wayne and Bruce Wayne is a billionaire, despite being doomed to fail. (Which means that despite the world failing, Bruce Wayne is still a success.) It's just silly to try and make it this big deal when "evil bat spirit yanks batmen out of potential worlds" works without "worlds that were doomed!!!!"
@CNNBlackmailSupport7 жыл бұрын
Omega Lock why wouldn't they search for the positive universe that still held the family members they lost? The only reason they wouldn't would be they aren't sympathetic, but evil. Like "I lost my Alfred, so I'm searching for a new universe to... destroy their Alfred. " It isn't a Batman who had a bad day, it's a bad Batman.
@venoumusgammer41127 жыл бұрын
CNN Blackmail Support maybe the date. Like October 28 in Earth 0 is October 28 in Earth 6 and Negative 6 and so on. The universes all exist on the same timeline in the sense that the day is always the same in every universe. So maybe once they hit whatever be day they all start collapsing in on its self. In one Negative universe it may have just been Batmans laundry day for all we know

You may not see this, but I'd like to thank you for what you're doing. I've been watching the New to Batman playlist but I stopped at "The Joker Becomes a Good Guy" because I tend to watch this at work and since then I've been super busy. But the main reason why I'm thanking you, is because, you gave me and my wife something to do during our 1st Anniversary stay-cation in NYC. We didn't go with a plan. Only to relax without the kids and we stopped by Midtown Comics and found The Dark Nights Metal tie-ins starting with The Red Death, and we spent our 2 days buying the comics and reading the together. We missed out on the 1st printing foil cover of The Red Death, but we got the 1st printing foils of the following 4 (Murder Machine, Drowning, Dawnbreaker, and Merciliess (when it came out yesterday)). And the only reason why we went in there is because you lured me back into buying comics. So... thanks man. My wife and I spent our time getting out minds blown from this amazing story thanks to you.
@omegalock35497 жыл бұрын
Have you checked out the Metal event comics as well as the prequels and tie ins? The one shots are cool but I hope you get the full story. I hope you and your wife get into the rest of DC rebirth as well.
@warnerconcepcion99297 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I just ordered the Metal comics that came out before those tie-ins. I think it was 3 issues, right? We ended up getting the tie-ins because we had to know how Batman got the other powers. As for rebirth, we haven't gotten into them yet.

ComicsExplained, Regarding the question on "what the dark multiverse is" and the apparent paradox you mention: "if dark multiverse precedes dc's multiverse, people couldn't have dreamed about it in the first place", what if dreams are, in fact, a memory or reminisce of a past alternative reality we have experienced: the different dark multiverses "me" which I perceive as an echoe: the dream. Because our connection to this other realities is imperfect, veiled, the dreams are chaotic, but they would make bits and pieces of this realities. Perhaps as in the story of the forge, the most unstable, imperfect, even evil realities which result of our wrong destions were ment to be destroyed, in a slow, but sure road to perfection: a light multiverse (current multiverse being a step in that road). But when the Dragon (Barbatos) revel, this evil realities persisted, though disconnected of the main path. Barbatos which.may have remained trapped as master of said darkness realm, would now be attempting to open the door to the main stream, so that darkness would be now will substitute light in this eternal cycle

Curly4Superman as far as we know, the watchmen and dark Knight metal are not connected what so ever
@CNNBlackmailSupport7 жыл бұрын
Metal is Batman, button is superman. That's the basic line between the two.
@theoneguynamedjesus7 жыл бұрын
CNN Blackmail Support but they’re both same universe so how are they not connect?? And fucking batman had an issue to do with the damn button so how is it on Superman only. You act like Superman ain’t I’m metal as well.
@yvesthekoala90387 жыл бұрын
theoneguynamedjesus Because Superman will be meeting up with Dr Manhattan in December, Batman won't be there. Plus Dark knights metal has to deal with Barbatos. Unless they make Manhattan or someone from Watchmen appear during Dark knights metal, the two events don't have anything to do with one another
@CNNBlackmailSupport7 жыл бұрын
theoneguynamedjesus I don't act like anything. The button is a superman centric story. Kind of like how the new testament is a Jesus centric story. Doesn't mean he's not in other stories, but one is his story and the others aren't. The button is a superman story. Superman is the main character and it deals with superman lore. Metal is a Batman story. Batman is the main character and it deals with Batman lore. Make sense? If not, then blame DC. They are the ones who wrote it like that. Everyone here is just pointing that out to you, and you are "acting like" superman being a side character in a Batman book makes it a superman book too. Sometimes, when you take a crap, you also pee, but you don't call it "taking a crap and peeing" because the main idea is the one that matters. So you either take a piss or take a crap, and never call it doing both unless that was the idea from the beginning.

For those who have never heard of the Endless. While I cannot urge people enough to explore these works, to all who are yet to venture into this these worlds, one aspect of the suggested video is misleading. Across most of the many stories in this series, abet with some key exceptions, Morpheus and his siblings are often simply observers or extras in the protagonist’s stories, perhaps noticed, perhaps not, maybe invoked by the actors, or by a call of duty to be present, but perhaps just passing through. The vast majority of these stories are about humanity in all its strangeness, human weakness, human strength, those who might come to see themselves as they are, those who hide in delusions and those who’s ‘madness keeps’ them ‘sane’. In the story of the first and last emperor of the United States of America, Dream actually tries to tell Delirium (who we must not forget, was once Delight) and Desire that the Endless are the human’s dolls. Despair cannot lose herself, no matter how many times the weight of her purpose and her life becomes too heavy compared to her hooks, Destruction can only keep running and Death will endure and outlast all, even Destiny and his book, until the spark of the last sun turns cold and she locks the door to the multiverse behind her; the Endless reflect life, not the other way around. There are still strange beasts and certainly monsters between those pages, betwixt fea, magic and miracles in the modern age, but the darkest monsters are always still people and nightmares as well as dreams are both born from our own natures and the deepest desires in our murky hearts.
