There were many good scenes between Barnabas and Angelique in 1897 where they all but forgot their own long lists of grievances with one another, and worked toward a positive resolution of some more immediate matter. It really made them glorious together, and showed how far Frid and Parker had advanced in confidently embracing their characters. Angelique and Julia also found a detente and even mutual respect that was engrossing to watch. This timeline was among the best.

Interesting in greatly overlooked point with the Barnabas and Angelique intertwined storyline. Her curse on the Barnabas was that he could never love in anyone who loved him would die, but she ended up never having someone to love her as well...

In the original series was it Angelique who turned Barnabas into a vampire? I remember watching it with my mom but never knew the entire story. I enjoyed the 1991 reboot (which was apparently hated by fans of the original) but that one I was able to watch from the beginning (since we didn’t have YT then 😂)

Yes, it was Angelique who did this to Barnabus because she was sticking pins in Sarah, his little sister's doll to make Sarah sick. Barnabus would do anything to protect his little baby sister.

Went in to the Hall. And, Poof. Vanished.

I don't think Angelique belongs in the pits of hell. She had a tough childhood. Plus Barnabas betrayed Angelique when he dumped her for Josette after promising to marry Angelique during their romance in Martinique. To make things worse, it turned out Josette was Angelique's sister. Hard not to be jealous under those circumstances. In addition, things might have turned out better if Barnabas hadn't challenged Jermiah to a duel and killed him. Angelique didn't intend for that to happen.

Only thing I disliked about DS was when it went too far into the "Soap Opera" boy/girl stuff. In this scene Barnabas the vampire sounds more like "Dear Abby".
