Just the way Mr. Curtis describes that idea for the telephone scene with the children is a pure delight to watch here.

The storytelling of how Dark Shadows was made and scripted brought a big smile to my face. Dan Curtis obviously loved coming up with ideas. He did a great job.

Dan Curtis borrowed from the classics. H.P. Lovecraft especially.

I was one of many from the kids audience. The 3:30 show worked for us because we were in Catholic school & got out at 2:30. I remember some of the kids stayed after school for cleaning & our friends would stay and help us so we could all get home on time before the show started. I say this with much laughter that it was a brutal time for me, I went to a all Polish school and was one of about 10 of us that was Irish. I was a fat kid but it never got in the way, my popularity came from the fact that my last name was "Collins". When Barnabus came on the scene my whole life changed at school, it was such fun. We all watched that show everyday and talked about it on a daily basis. Special episodes got us all scurring home to get our chores done to be able to sit and watch the show when it started. I loved all the attention!

Phenomenal series. Dan Curtis also created the original ' The Night Stalker ' TV-movie, which had the highest ratings of any movie before or since.

Wonderful interview. Dan Curtis was a very imaginative, passionate and exciting man. It's fascinating to learn that Quentin Collins was strongly influenced by The Ghost of Peter Quint from THE TURN OF THE SCREW. 4:19 I've always thought Quentin and Peter seemed very much alike and it's stunning to realize that, that was no coincidence.

@@TheBob3759 Turn Of The Screw was written by Henry James, not H.P. Lovecraft.

The 18th century segment when Barnabas became a vampire was my favorite. It seemed they had the whole plot worked out ahead of time from beginning to end.

He created the sympathetic vampire. Without Dark Shadows and maybe Dan Curtis's Dracula, I don't think the Gary Oldman Dracula would have existed.

Mr. Curtis is a good interview. It's sad that he couldn't think of anymore ideas. I watched it until the very last episode, and would have continued to do so.

He (and his writers) did a great job of "perpetuating" the vampire narrative. Some of the story lines were not my favorite, such as the Leviathans, but even that plot had some moments that I loved.

I wish they could have got some new writers who could come up with something original. If only STEPHEN KING had been old enough to write for Dark Shadows.
