Funny Dan should bring up the rubber bat on a string. I have one outside my window almost every night. The squeaking is driving me mad.

What a great actor he was on Dark Shadows. What Reinfield was to Dracula, Willie was for Barnabas (without the fly eating) Break a leg Mr. Karlen.

Going back over the show with a much more discerning eye than that of a 9 year old out of breath, fresh from the school bus, I now get a kick out of watching the nervous actors that appeared on the show. Geoffrey Scott/Sky Rumson was probably one of the more cringe worthy actors in his first few weeks on the show. Unfortunately, for him, just as he was getting not so deadpan stiff and actually starting to act, his character was written out.

Amazing how many Southern girls were prominent in a story of a New England family.

Barnabas might have evolved into a sympathetic character, but watch the b&w episides when he’s first introduced. He’s a total villain, nothing sympathetic about him.

As much as I still enjoy DS - I was one of those teenagers who watched it after school in the ‘60s - I prefer the b&w episodes (the Bill Malloy and Phoenix story arcs) to the later Barnabas/Julia Hoffman episodes. To me they have an atmosphere that gets lost in color. And Diana Millay was one of the best in the cast!

John Karlan is missed. I adore this man. I'm not a star-chaser, but he is one person I wish I'd had the opportunity to meet. He seems like he loved meeting people and having a good time.

Totally SUCKS they couldn’t accommodate the littlest request she had for her character to play “evil”. She didn’t even ask for more money! She just wanted her character to be seduced by the darkness. I know the show was a ratings success but they would have had the original Victoria back and maybe her story would have had better closure. It really was about Victoria as it was Barnabas.

...It was wild when the actors played different characters. Here that person was evil, but over here, he was a good guy..it kept it fresh
@jimhaleyMoatas17012 ай бұрын
You could see that Barabas wasn't really evil. He wasn't a 2D villain...as the show went on, We learned that he was cursed into a vampire by a witch who was in love with him and because of this, His true love was killed. He was 2 centuries out of his time..Yeah, Johnathan played Barnabas like a person..The writers turned an almost 2-D bad guy into a sympathetic character...and THAT'S WHY Dark Shadows was a Hit...Johnathan was..in Retrospect. A Great actor...and we kids recognize it without realizing it.

I feel sad when I hear Alexandra Moltke..not being happy with her Victoria Winters role--thst she was too naive. Vicki wasn't stupid. She was Us, the Viewer..she played the mysterious, innocent character being brought into the World of the Supernatural. There would have been No Stories without the "Regular Characters" and They made DS truly interesting.

A total class act ❤️ She slayed her rehearsal here and the fact she had to embody and portray two twins, one good and one evil, shows her depth and range and versatility as an actress. I have all of her books which were based on the show and its characters. May her soul rest in Heavenly peace. She has done her job quite well as a woman and a wife and a mother/grandmother and actress. Nobody is Angelique but the late, great Ms. Parker 🌹 💐 😊

I would’ve loved to meet Denise, she seemed like a really nice lady. And I love how she has such fond memories of working on Dark Shadows. It’s really sad how her health sharply declined in later years and that she passed away so young. (I read the GoFundMe thing written by her son, absolutely heartbreaking 😢)

As a Dark Shadows fan, it's interviews like this that made me appreciate all the work and effort that went into the program. Behind the scenes, from people who never appeared on camera. One of Mr. Tomashoff's best accomplishments on the show, was the eerie sequence where the ghost of Josette steps out of the painting in the Old House, and the scenes of her ghost dancing in the moonlight outside the house. Still creepy today!
