If any woman deserved his love it was Julia, and in fact he DID love her, just not in the "romantic" sense- platonic love can be just as deep and true, as we saw- he became devoted to her and risked his safety for her many times. I too, would much rather it had ended with him telling her he loved her than the Bramwell story.

In the radio sequel "Return to Collinwood" (featuring the voices of original cast members), it was revealed that Barnabas and Julia ultimately did get married, and were living in a spiritual retreat community in Hong Kong. It was also revealed that Victoria Winters was in fact the biological daughter of Elizabeth Collins Stoddard. However, her whereabouts remained unknown, and the will of Elizabeth urges her daughter Carolyn to try to find Victoria. (In effect, that overturned the earlier scenario that Victoria had been forced to jump to her death from Widows Hill by the Leviathans when she returned to the eighteenth century. However, why she would just leave Collinwood without telling anyone where she was going was very odd).

The luckiest woman in Barnabas' life was neither Angelique or Josette, but Julia Hoffman. All too true of a man of Barnabas' era he loves women as though they are pretty ornaments though not to be taken seriously, but Julia is the one woman -slowly and grudgingly- he comes to respect as a peer and intellectual equal. Though he often fears Angelique, that's not the same thing as respect. I don't think Julia ever knew how lucky she was Barnabas DIDN'T fall in love with her.

Very enjoyable. Thanks! I watched DS at work (on my break) and enjoyed it immensely...but at times I'd think to myself "For God's sake, writers, can't you get these two wonderful talents together? They have such wonderful chemistry between them!" At least the TV Guide article by Sam Hall was some sort of solace.

They were close friends in real life.I read a post on a board that Jonathan liked Grayson's bawdy sense of humor and her cooking.Matthew Hall wrote in KLS's book on DS that Barnabas never bit Julia.

Because Johnathan Frid didn't want to play Barnabas anymore. I think they could have given us at least an update of what happened to them at the end of the 1840 storyline like they did for parallel time.

I always wished Barnabas would stop trying to get with him and he couldn’t have and see Julia. But I got the impression that towards the end he did have feelings for her am I wrong?

dvalariew, in a way, I agree with you, but I still would have liked to see Barnabas and Julia get together. I would have been satisified with a declaration of love from Barnabas and a kiss, at least.

Someone needs to finsh this love story. So many of Grayson Hall and Jonathan Frid's fans longed to see Barnabas and Julia get together. We watched and waited for it to happen, but it never did. The next best thing would be for us to read about it in a book, since we didn't get to see it on screen. Sam Hall, or anyone, do you have it in you to write the happy ending to this love story-the story about how Julia cures Barnaba, they fall in love, get married and live happily ever after.

Sam Hall wrote in TV Guide a year after the show ended that Barnabas and Julia would have moved to Singapore and she would have cured him.They also would have married too.Maybe both of them RIP now.

I didn’t get to see the end of dark shadows but I just could not see Barnabas and Julia in being romantic. Barnabas, was cheated in life should of been cured married Maggie and have children.......
