DARK SHADOWS (TV SERIES) In 1795 Vicki Tells of 1968

From original episode. In 1795 Vicki (Victoria Winters) has a discussion with Peter Bradford. She talks about her need to return to 1968, not dismissing the alternative of her living the rest of her life out in the past. In the new fantasy comedy film remake starring Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins, Victoria Winters is played by Bella Heathcote.

DS really introduced a great deal of the Occult to the general public; for that it was quite ahead of its time. In this scene we are seeing Soulmated love, something so very rare and special. It and reincarnation was not openly discussed in the series, but you see it throughout the series. Spirits so in love that they are determined, whether they know it or not to try to unite with their chosen beloved. Perhaps when the turbulence in these early decades of the 21st century are over, the best of the past can be reborn in a new, vibrant world we cannot see just yet due to these stressful times. I too ran home from 6th grade to watch DS and enjoy it these days. Thank you to all of the fine actors, actresses and supporters that brought us such a great program.

Such a warm, and yes for the "given circumstance" a real moment. Peter seems genuinely confused about her talk of air flight. And they seem genuinely entranced with each other, Well done Mr. Davis and Miss Molke.

It is a tender moment, and Roger Davis really throws himself in the part(s) throughout his time on DS. Great chemistry between Victoria and himself; although I can't help but wonder what Vicki is thinking during their kiss: "Gee, my fiance, (Burke-written-out-of-the-series Devlin) is missing/dead---oh, well. May as well fall in love all over again---and this time make it last."

She (Victoria Winters) was supposed to be falling in love with Barnabas in 1968 before she was sent back in time (via the seance)to the year 1795. Just before meeting Barnabas in the present, Victoria had a love interest with Burke Devlin but an airplane crash ended Burke in 1968 when he died. Then the seance sends Vicky back to 1795 where she meets Peter Bradford (Roger Davis) during her witchcraft trial. They fall in love. She may have also realized that Barnabas is immortal and now exists is the past (1795) and present (1968) as a vampire. (Her realization about Barnabas is not shown in the original series.) When Victoria returns to the present, she meets a reincarnated Peter Bradford who has lost his memory. Anything goes on Dark Shadows...people dying and coming back as different characters...it was a soap opera for sure!

Everyday I’d rush from school and would always be in front of the tv at 4:00 pm and watch this show every Monday thru Friday and get scared shitless. I look back now and say, I WAS SCARED OF THAT!!!

Well, both Victoria Winters and Jeff Clarke really out did the 1970 movie version of Love Story, Rachel. They have beating both Ali McGraw and Ryan O'Neal and their romancing the whole world.

While I preferred Victoria to end up with Barnabas, I much prefer Peter/Jeff over Burke. I wouldn't have been happy if she had married Burke but her marrying Peter/Jeff I was content with.

I think that they are living in both of each other's worlds, one from the 1960s, the other from the 1790s. never seeing that ultimately, closely romantic in love scenes than even up to now.

@Pattonfrodo - you must remember she is explaining 20th century tech to a person in the late 1700s... it would be the same if she was explaining an automobile. Of course we both must remember that this is fiction, so that we do not get carried away. :)

Vicky is governess/private tutor & teacher home schooling for the rich...for Sarah Collins and Daniel Collins in the past (1795) and in the future for David Collins (1968). Basics of flight??...you mean leaving? If so, she stayed at Collinwood to discover her own past since she was an orphan from the foundling home...
