There is another dark theory that I hear around the internet. It was Fairy Godmother that cursed Fiona in the first place. It makes perfect sense, she would curse Fiona so that the parents would be desperate to seek her out so that Fairy Godmother could conduct a plan to rule the kingdom through her son.

I've got dark theories 1) Shreks father wanted to eat him like he said that's why Shrek left him he was running away from his father and changed his name so he wouldn't find him 2) The Ogres are either near extinction or live in a place far from humanity which explains why we never see any ogres or Shrek mentioning them until Shrek 4 I bet he's never seen other ogres before in his life which is why he is shocked to see them in Shrek 4

How about a theory that Fiona and Charming are siblings? Charming looks so similar to the Queen, also Fairy Godmother could take him as a baby as a payment for making King a human. Just think about it, Charming is a prince, but he doesn't have any kingdom to rule, because Fairly Godmother isn't a Queen, so how could he get his title? Also, Charming doesn't have any magical powers like his "mother", so maybe he's adopted.

The day Shrek and Fiona met is the same day that Shrek began his journey, meaning that no matter what happens next Shreks journey to save Fiona would have been delayed by at the very least a day. It wasn't enough that Shrek saved Fiona it was the fact that he saved her BEFORE her parents signed the deed. A day is more than enough time for Fiona's parents to sign the deal so even if Shrek saves Fiona and everything works out Rumple would still get the kingdom. Now here is what I'll call timeline 5 Fiona decides that she would like to see her parents again so she convinces Shrek to see them. When they get there they discover that Rumple is now king and her parents are basically dead. So she starts a revolution to free her kingdom. Rumple would likely have started persecuting Ogres anyways since he knew that Shrek could be the only one that could thwart his plans, so the revolution could have happened anyways. It is worth noting that the exit clause never said, true loves FIRST kiss, just true loves kiss. Meaning that all Shrek and Fiona would have to do to break the spell would be to kiss each other that is if they can find out about the exit clause, it was only because Donkey had dealings with Rumple in that alternate timeline that he knew about the exit clause.
