The name came from two blues musicians that Syd Barrett loved, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.

Good evening Sir and Madam. If you find yourselves in England later this year perhaps you should consider visiting Winchester Planetarium’s “ Dark Side Of The Moon “ shows. Travel through the galaxy accompanied by Pink Floyd’s greatest album, played in its entirety. Check it out !! ( I tried to copy the link but my ancient fingers didn’t manage it 🤦‍♂️ ffs). On The Run: At the end of that song in concert, there is a near-lifesize plane flying across the stadium and crashing into the back corner of the stage... so, yeah, it's definitely a plane crash. ;-]

Yes, I've seen that plane crash, freaked everyone out I was with, the first time I saw them do it, back i1975!

I saw the first live performance at Earls Court April '73, it changed my life.

That was Claire Torri singing on great gig in the sky, it signifies the 5 stages of death. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. It was only her second take that made the final cut

Nice reaction to one of the greatest albums ever. Got high to it fifty yrs ago and now. Old habits are great. Yes's Fragile is a great album to spin judging by your library of listens. Live they would fly a plane into the stage with a crash scene on a giant screen. Wonderful.

Those are indeed the original album's printed lyrics. They contain the same misprints (for example, in "Breathe", "don't sit down, it's time to START another one" --- they actually sing "...to DIG another one").But I'm not complaining, it preserves the historic value.

@@MusicforBusyPeople, I'm 62 years old, which means I was 12 when this album appeared, and it left us all in a state of SHOCK! No one had ever heard anything even remotely close, not even by Pink Floyd itself. ("Atom Heart Mother" had been fairly popular here because a section from it was played in the intro vignette of the most popular national TV evening news at the time.) We all played the record endlessly until the turntable stylus almost appeared on the other side of the LP, and nobody talked about anything else for MONTHS! Let's just say that people of my generation can play the entire record note by note inside our heads. And this only begins to describe the impact it had on us!

I always believed that David & Roger were singing Breathe together like Simon & Garfunkel, Idk. I do know that of the hundreds of concerts I've seen, 2 of Roger Waters tours were masterpieces (The Wall & Dark Side of The Moon).❤

The cover art is by Storm Thorgerson, from Hipgnosis. THey worked together for most of their album covers, staring, I believe, in 1970 for "Atom Heart Mother"

I was lucky to see the entire Dark Side of the Moon Live, 3 times, in 1975 with the classic lineup in the old Boston Garden, in 1994 in Foxboro on the Pulse Tour with the David Gilmour led Floyd and lastly in 2006 when Roger Waters brought his great ensemble to bring it to life in the new Boston Garden. Every time was a religious experience, the first time especially with the classic lineup, tripping with my friends back in the day, is one of the best times of my life and as good a concert experience as I ever had. Musically, you can't beat them, after Dark Side, please do the next album, Wish You Were Hear, it is as brilliant in its own way as what you just reacted to. Animals and The Wall follow brilliantly after. For a live treat, see the classic lineup doing their greatest song, Echoes, live in the ancient Roman Amphitheater in Pompeii. Unreal, legendary performance that is in 2 parts as it originally opened and closed the concert documentary on that musical event. Enjoy, Pink Floyd is well worth reacting to and will get you tons of eyeballs if you do that stuff mentioned above. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎷🎶

They performed this in its entirety a full year or two before they recorded it. It was one piece. So in the studio, they may have recorded in pieces and blended it together, but they knew what they wanted the finished piece to be

Sounds unreal on my Bose Headphones, this was one remaster that really does make a difference, brilliant audio experience. 🎵

I have no idea why the dolby atmos version I've solely experienced dark side through literally has less soundscape and clarity, like isn't dolby atmos supposed to be better than 5.1? I have only listened to it on spotify through streaming, but I can CLEARLY hear a difference in the audio they used for this reaction, and it's soooo much better than spotify's version.

I have to admit I tweaked with the EQ a bit. For the quadraphonic, upped the bass and took a little bit off the high end. For the 5.1, took the bass down a little.
