My all-time favorite Pink Floyd album. I've been listening to it since 1977, when I borrowed my friend's 8-track tape. I went out a week later and bought the vinyl....which I still have. ANIMALS FOREVER

Dogs-The middle lead part just tears into me every time I hear it. The biting harmonic squeal downward into the full chord, chef kiss. The word play at the end reminds me of end of Dark Side of the Moon.

The screaming, hysterical laughter at the end of the first guitar solo sure sounds similar to the screaming lunacy Roger did on The Wall. I always assumed it was him anyway.

Roger has let bitterness overtake his life. Sad. He's such a genius. Possibly the trying situations of his upbringing led both to the bitterness and the genius.

Hey guys great to see you back with another Floyd album. By a long way this is my favourite Pink Floyd album. I just think Gilmour’s guitar playing on this album is tremendous and Roger’s lyrics are phenomenal. Mike, that “stone” echo comes into play on Side 2 during “Sheep” - so basically if you had the vinyl album and you listened to Dogs on Side 1 and when you hear the stone echo, you flip the album over and drop the needle at the same point on Side 2 and during Sheep you hear the echo again - in theory the stone has continued to drop through the album like it would in the water. And Dev, shame on your for having not read Animal Farm 😂 it’s a masterpiece (as is most of Orwell’s work)

I think Gilmour is hands down the better singer, so I also miss his vocals on side two. I also think this is the best song on the record largely due to the guitar. There are flourishes of that on side two, but not like the solos on this song. I think the messages that Waters tries to convey definitely get muddled on side two and it could be argued that side two is where Roger’s solo career begins because The Wall has a lot of great guitar work on it, but other than that it’s really Water’s record and almost completely his record with The Final Cut.
