Dark Souls 2 - Benhart of Jugo Quest (Moonlight Greatsword Achievement/Trophy)

Note, This video is not showing how to get the Moonlight Greatsword. Only Benhart of Jugo Quest and the Moonlight Greatsword Achievement/Trophy.
In order to to complete his quest and inherit his weapon/armor you have to summon him for three of the four following bosses (He must survive three of them)
Prowling Magus & Congregation in Brightstone Cove Tseldora at the Royal Army Campsite in one of the nearby tents.
Looking Glass Knight in Drangleic Castle right before the fog door.
Giant Lord in the Memory of Jeigh at the bottom of the stairs before the fog door. Summoning Captain Drummond will prevent the summoning of Benhart.
Throne of Want to the left of the fog door. only the Nashandra boss fight counts towards the 3 required fights.
Speak to him once again in Memory of Orro to receive his weapon and gear.
Get Benhart's Set & Bluemoon Greatsword.

His sword the BlueMoon Greatsword is a fake, the real one is Moonlight Greatsword, you can get it by killing The Duke's Dear Freja in NG+ to get the Old Paledrake Soul and trade it to Ornifex.

To me, it's really interesting to see just how incredible the characters in the Soulsverse are. With Benhart, he has a garbage weapon that breaks easily and does not scale or do high damage on its own. Yet, Banhart made it through the shaded ruins, through Drangleic castle, and even into the memory of Jeigh which means he had to have gotten the ashen mist heart in his world from the Ancient Dragon, so he also has to have made it through Aldia's Keep, the Dragon Aerie, and the Dragon Shrine... Think about that.

Once you kill Freja Spider, return to the camp fire (you have normally one fight with Benhart). Burn an ascetic. Clean the path to first boss, get back to summon Benhart, go kill the boss (2 kill). Back to the camp, burn fire ascetic, summon him again, kill the boss (3 kill already, done). Then, when you reach Castle, after the two dragon riders boss fight, Benhart will give you his gear. No need to bother with harder boss and worry about him to survive.

There's an easy trick to let him live in the Giant lord boss fight. As soon as you press yes on the summon option run as fast as you can to the giant lord. hit him a few times until benhart arrives and assists you. This way he can survive with over 50% of his health.

since the bluemoon greatsword has no scaling, you can give it a raw infusion for a straight damage upgrade, at raw +10 and along with the ring of blades +2 the sword has a pure physical AR of 413, which isnt that bad considering, and it can be buffed. (it looks pretty baller with fire weapon on it)

I can confirm that using bonfire ascetic x3 in Brightstone cove tent to summon bernhart 3x for chapel boss works. Once you get in drangleic castle and meet him next to the bonfire he will give you his gear and you get the achievement too. (ps3 version).

funnily enough, the Blue Moon Sword does have its uses, given that it's a perfect candidate for Raw infusion and pairs quite well with the Majestic Greatsword at SL 200. At SL150 though, there are certainly better options.

May have been pointed out already, but this ISN'T the actual moonlight greatsword. If you talk to Maughlin he comments that it is a fake. It may just be a replica that was passed down through Benhart's family line, but the real Moonlight Greatsword is crafted by Ornifex after obtaining the Old Paledrake Soul from Duke's Dear Freja in NG+/NG with Ascetic.

If you've had all the conversations and summons after defeating the Giant Lord you can go back into the memory of Orro and get the achievement, you don't need to kill anything in the throne of want :)

That applies to most weapons, except for the Washing Pole and Santier's Spear b/c even the most stupidly unskilled scrub can easily kill a pro with those bullshittingly OP weapons.

The Bluemoon Greatsword is actually pretty good with a mundane build (Get all your stats to at least 20, strength to 28, and infuse the sword with the mundane infusion, an extra benefit is that dark weapon and great magic weapon are both usable with this build so you add even more damage.

I read in a guide that you also can redo boss fights with a bonfire asthetic to bring back a boss to get your 3, so theoretically you could fight the congregation 3 times in one playthrough and as long as he stays alive they will count as the 3. I am hoping this is true because he died on me at the last second in the mirror knight fight and there isn't anything i can do about it now. If not I beat the watcher and defender and congregation already, but I don't think I will be able to get him to survive the giant lord fight because of the ballista fire and him being a derpy npc who wont know to dodge and hide from it.

Yeah it is true, use the Bonfire Asthetic to bring back a Boss that you need Behart to survive, I had to do it for the Mirror Boss, I just equipped the Redeye Ring and he wasn't interested in Benhart at all and Benhart gave me all his gear and boom got the achievement, so yeah the Bonfire Asthetic method does work ;-)

Magic. I'd go down to 40 or 50 INT to get the best out of the scaling, as those 7 points are gonna add like 1 extra base damage.

In my first playthrough I always talked to burnheart and never summoned him, but he appeared in the places you described, are you sure it is important that burnheart SURVIVES the boss fight, or even summon him? Or is my game glitches?

Yes, you must Summon him at least three out of four boss battles he is available for and have him survive them boss fights. I would make sure of the giant one.
