The Santier's Spear is a weapon obtained in Doors of Pharros by opening a Pharros lockstone contraption. The reason why this weapon is one of the top choices for a NDNB run is due to its "infinite" durability. Technically the weapon itself has 500 durability but after breaking it gains infinite durability and a unique moveset which is much more supirior to its unbroken state.
By doing the Fragrant Branch of Yore jump in Forest of Fallen Giants you can gain early access to Shaded Woods and to an extent, Doors of Pharros. There you can obtain the Raw Stone and the Santier's Spear.
Personally, I would recommend the Rapier over the Santier's Spear since it is much easier to make, and repair powders are pretty common in SotFS anyway. But if you want to avoid running pass and instead kill all enemies before proceeding, the Santier's Spear is going to be the top choice.

Pro-tip for anyone who wants to use this spear. Kill a bunch of dudes and stack them on top of eachother, then proceed to smack the corpses. It does tons of damage to your weapon for some reason, and doesn't harm the badly textured innocent walls.

It's one of the easiest weapons in the game to fight, lol. It has no range with the 2H R1s, so unless you're rolling into them, you're good. Literally just spam running attacks and you'll kill them because the range and speed isn't great with Santiers. Then 1H it's basically a low damage spear, which is okay, but not amazing.

As a side note, if you want an actual OP combo, try Greatshield/Warped Sword or Greatshield/Ice Rapier. Or if you like glitches, Chaos Blade and Ice Rapier quick attacks.

To anyone thinking it might be a good idea to break Santier's Spear in any other way: Don't. Attacking an enemy or NPC takes way more of its durability than hitting normal walls. Hitting a wall takes about 1/2 points of durability per R2 and 1/4 per R1. The wall behind the crow nest counts as an (invulnerable) NPC and that's why you lose so much durability hitting it. Don't repeat my mistake and try to break it by swinging it all around the Lost Bastille and then giving up after you managed to take it down to 300 durability after twenty minutes.

I know this vid is several years old - but there is a really easy way to break the spear. Group together a bunch of random hollows, kill them and get their bodies in a pile. Swing at pile of dead bodies. Each body contributes to how much durability damage you do to the spear (and other gear if you're trying to break your stuff for some reason). I usually just pick all the hollows from the first area and go HAM. Takes maybe 5 minutes total to break the spear.

You can make the area you get the weapon less annoying by join the rat covenant, the enemies don't attack you if you join. Also you can then hit the enemies and they become hostile to you and will make the weapon break in half the time.

Small tip: if you don't like getting the raw stone from a lizard you can kill the skeleton lords early and make a detour to get the raw stone in the cave next to the first dark giant in the valley with the poison, it's a bit slower but way more consistent
