Me and my friends have been discussing it, one of our theories about Gael and Aria [painter] is that they sought the Dark Soul so that they could recreate the Abyss- before it became an evil, corrupted force. A cold, dark, and gentle place for humans.

You are probably right. It looks like at least the ringed city was sinking in the sand, but Lothric and Anor Lando was floating. Aldrich was preparing for a age of the deep sea

Are you sure its Gwyn is the king who ordered Filianore not to be disturbed? I did think that at the start, but then I noticed that Gwyndolins image is carved into the chapel doors. Why would Gwyndolin be on those doors if Gwyn was the one who built it? We know that the Lord of Sunlight wasn't especially proud of his second son and there were no statues or images of him in DS1. Furthermore that image of Gwyndolin is the same one found in Irithyll, which was the darkmoon city. Also in the Japanese version of the game, Gwyndolin is referred to as the current King of the Gods, seeing as how he is the last male heir to Gwyns throne. Could it just be possible that Gwyndolin was in fact the one who placed Filianore in eternal slumber? We don't see anything saying specifically it was Gwyn who did that. His motivation would be the same as Gwyn, to keep men from the Dark Soul. I also believe another reason Gwyndolin put Filianore to sleep was so that he could take what was inside that curious egg she holds. I believe that egg is where Yorshka came from. Given how Yorshka says she does not know much of anything, this could possibly explain why she feels that way. This is pure speculation on my part. It's just that the Gwyndolin imagery on the front of the chapel and the mystery surrounding that egg gives me pause for thought.

I want to know what happened when we touched Fillianore's egg, and what that egg was. And what exactly is the Dreg Heap? And the angels? They should've had more item descriptions to tell us about Judicators, angels, what the Dreg Heap actually is, who the Pygmies are and how they got the Dark Soul, and how Gael took it from them. I think it's safe to assume the last area is in the normal world just outside of Lothric. But seriously so much is unanswered.
@matthewlizst79397 жыл бұрын
The egg seemed a bit like a callback to the broken pendant from the first game, where Manus pulls you back through time because you have it. The Artorias-style boss fight with Gael (also a tragic, corrupted hero) and the scenic, desolate landscape both seem to indicate something to this effect as well. I can't say what significance the egg has to Filanore, just as I can't say what significance the pendant has to Manus. Alternatively, both of these could have been Berserk references. I wouldn't be surprised.

I read that the shell is the shell of a Vagrant from Dark Souls 1. It makes sense honestly, the Vagrants appear where large amounts of humanity were lost, and one can assume a large amount of humanity is in the Ringed City and the Ashen Waste could by in a different universe. Unless the Vagrants actually come from the future.

I think it was a time jump that only affected us, inadvertently taking a short cut to the literal end. What makes me believe this is Shira's dialogue and Gael's current state. Shira has been looking for us ever since we opened the seal and woke the Princess and you can tell she's been looking longer than what it has been for us and it makes Gael even more tragic than what you originally learn after beating him because he had to get to where he is the hard way taking an unknown amount, there's no telling how long it's been since we last saw him physically. For us it may have been weeks or months, for him it's probably been centuries which I think is why he was surprised to see we were still there. I could be wrong but that's the way it seems to me. Edit: I also believe Ludleth may be a Pygmy, he has the exact same features even if he had legs, he's the only Lord that is smaller than the PC, not just smaller but significantly smaller. Again this could be wrong as well, I haven't had a chance to play DS1(hopefully they remaster it or fuck, a simple port would be good enough for me)

Gael is actually the last of the Slave Knights, warriors used as cannon fodder along with the Ringed Knights during the War Against the Dragons. The only thing that separated them from the Ringed Knights was that their armor is not of the Abyss. If Gael truly is a Slave Knight, he has lived long past the time of Gwyn, the First Lord, and much longer than us. The Miracles he uses date back to the time where the pact between Man and the Gods was still in tact, which solidifies his position as a Slave Knight. Since the Nameless Painter calls Gael "Uncle", Gael must have had a brother. If this is true, then the care of the Nameless Painter would have come with his brother's death. When he heard the Nameless Painter's idea of a world without the curse of Fire or Dark, Gael renounced his duty as a Slave Knight and went to find the pigment of the Dark Soul of Man. I believe that in the Ringed City, our pursuit of Gael was manipulated by Gael himself, knowing full well that he was not a man of strong will. He knew he would be consumed by the Dark Soul when he found it, and put trust in you to give the pigment to the Nameless Painter. Gael had witnessed the cruelty of the Gods, and the impurity of both Light and Dark, and being a creature of the Darkness knew he had no place in the painting. He sacrificed himself in order for an eternal painting to be built from the power of the Blood of the Dark Soul. When we find Gael at Filianore's Rest, I am not quite sure whether Filianore's Slumber held an illusion, or put us forward in time. If we were put forward in time, then Gael has most likely been corrupted for ages, waiting for you to come and kill him. If we are removing an illusion, then Gael's corruption was not too long after we lifted the illusion. When we kill Gael, we are carrying out his final duty for the Nameless Painter, and are breaking the curse of Light and Dark.

I had a gut feeling that this was an illusion like Ando Londo from DS1 so i wasnt to surprised. I was more upset and angry seeing that everything was gone, nothing was left. The waking of fillioanore has to be braking some type of illusion, it doesnt make any sense for it to be anything else. As the first NPC we meet in the ringed city looks like a pygmy lord and alludes to the fact of the city being a fleeing pile of dung or something, like he is aware of the true nature of the city, so either he knows its an illusion or he is Miyazakies take on nostradamus or something. Also we already know how that in the future lothric and the rest of the world turns into the dreg heap, a rubble of kingdoms. But in gaels fight we see lothric and anor londo in the distance almost fully intact, except anor londo which is mostly buried in a sea of ash. Taking these things into account either the city is in some type of illusion that breaks it off the rest of the worlds effects and time or its a major oversight on FROM's part, as even if we assume its just an illusion what we see in gaels arena can't be explained by taking into account the hard facts about the lore of the game.

Sorry guys but I cant understand a few things: 1) so the undead curse was just a curse forged by Gwin who was afraid of humanity? And if it is, why pigmies didn’t fight back to this sentence? I think that if Gwin was scared about them maybe they could reject that... 2) the new painting refers a “gentle dark world of ash” maybe this can suggest us what is the really Dark Souls ciycle ending? In this case I talk about the ending when we put out the first flame with the help of shrine handmaid. 3) we see the abyss in dark souls under the ruin of New Londo; but with the dlc we can assume that the Abyss ins confined in the ringed city to limit the spread of the dark? And if it is and the Abyss is so powerful and majestic, why we cant see in DLC? I mean if we consider all the consequences in the area it must be present... Thanks for all the help.

It seems to me that the last area where you fight Gael is very similar to what it would seem in the base game's opening cutscene. The part of Lothric and Anor Londo looks very similar at least, so is it possible that the base game's world is just an illusion to force us to link the flame? Like the ashen waste and untended grave is really what the world looks like now, or maybe the ashen waste is several years more advanced than the base game's real world like the Dragonslayer armour had hinted?

I think you go into the future, there are two reasons why I think this. Firstly, in the first Dark Souls, when you hit Gwynevere she vanishes because she is a illusion. Filianore, after the flash of light, has become a corpse so therefore it seems she was a living being. Also, there is this description of her (official art description)"Under the soft light of sun set, a woman sleeps everlastingly. Covered by overly grown bacillus, she is holding a half cracked shell. Her name is Filianore - her sleep is meant for the sake of others." Secondly, after Gwynevere vanishes, it effects the area permanently. The entire are of Anor Londo has no sunlight and certain enemies are gone. In the DLC, you can still travel to The Ringed City after the event that you touch her. I think that the Ashen Wastes as I call it, is the vision of the "Age of the Deep Sea". The sand symbolizes the water and it has swallowed everything up. That is my reasoning why it is not a illusion, but the future because the fire has faded entirely.

you don't feel the possibility of Gael being the furtive pigmy?
@voraito7 жыл бұрын
It's entirely possible as literally any human could be the one Pygmy who found the dark soul. It could even be Patches. In Gael's case it might make sense if you think he denied complying with the Ringed City plan and was therefore made a slave. My money is on either 1. The Pygmy Lord we meet outside the city who was suspicious of the gods and wasn't trapped in the egg with the rest. 2. The one Lord sitting on the very middle throne that is still intact. 3. We never meet him/her.

Do you think the Dark Soul's lore ends with the world becoming grey again? like how it began?

if her slumber is what maintains this illusion, then how did Gael get past it and reached the pygmies before us without waking her up?
@israelpadilla81267 жыл бұрын
mohammed nabhan maybe Gael is from another world and when he did it we didn't know but then the worlds combined cuz I mean if he was going through the same way we were that means he must've fought the bosses right? But they are still alive for us to fight
@manab7877 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... I just feel that's a very convenient explanation. Not saying it's not valid, just that it's too convenient having separate worlds and then combining them only when it serves the narrative. That being said, it has merit to it, since his notes are all over the place like other player characters and he does put this white sign to help you out in one of the boss fights.
@zifer1237 жыл бұрын
why would Gael need Fillionoire awake for ?
@manab7877 жыл бұрын
Zifer upon reaching the ring City, all that remains between you and reaching the pygmies and the dark soul is her slumber. That's why gwyn decreed that no one should disrupt her.
@zifer1237 жыл бұрын
Yes us but couldnt he have reached it another way or the illusion is broken for one person only but either way i dont think theres any mention that Fillionore protects or guards the pygmys and more to my theory that gael got there another way is that the Pygmy that was crawling was asking for Fillionoire so he didnt know she was dead yet or maybe he didnt know she was dead because nobody knew she was.

So what is the difference between furtive pygmy and pygmy lords(I believe all who were consumed by darkness after the birth of the first flame were called furtive pygmy). Furthermore I believe Filianore was someone who was born from pygmy mother or at least some dark souls within her. And most importantly the shell resembles the world where it seems the light is everywhere protecting the world but in reality the dark already consumed the inside and slightest touch of dark being shatters it; therefore taking us to ashed world where forcefully kept flame burnt whole world leaving only ashes behind.
@elevate077 жыл бұрын
Kory Kwon The same difference between Gwyn and the gods. The Furtive Pygmy is a Primeval Lord. The Pygmy Lords are his closest followers.

Yeah there's a lot of mystery behind her and that shell. Sounds like another video topic!
@zeke201320137 жыл бұрын
Aris Niro I think that Filianore is the goddess of time, and as long as she sleeps time does too. And the egg is probably the egg of midir, and you wake her up by destroying it.

What's the story with Magnus? So he completely split into multiple people or is part of him left because I always thought that seeing as he is father of the abyss (most badass title ever I must add) and the whole world gets enveloped by the abyss every age of dark that he must still be there somewhere.

could you Make a lore about the Player character because nothing happens randomly in Dark souls and i Think we belonged to One of the pillars on the Previous life. it could be that we we're the 3rd blackhand because gotthard help us on the abyss Watchers (should be hawkwood job but he refused to fight his fellows) and pontiff. the blackhand serves lothric but gotthard decided to change sides and kill the prince thats Why the Leon Warrior can be summoned but he returns to his World once you kill the Maiden, he Sees that you no longer serve lothric. After he, the Second blackhand kumai (i Think its his name and After he Kills gotthard in the library) and the Crystal Daughter will try to Stop you before you reach lorian. if my theory is right then the lore will be Deep as the abyss

I think the blood of the dark soul connects to bloodborne. even Gael cape attack at the end look similar to the arcane attack on bloodborne. plus corruption is a recurring theme souls borne games. but it either from blood or the abyss this time it's both.
@israelpadilla81267 жыл бұрын
tyrice m let me ask you this if they are connected then how did the old ones come to be?

Israel Padilla Gods. remember the infant in the mad king fight? invisible. he was the offspring of God and a king driven crazy who resemble seth. he was a mutation if conceived after the mad king altered himself. what if this practice became common in search of a worthy heir to link the flame. and maybe somewhere along the line it was decided that just like in the ringed city that God's and men should be kept separate.both of fight , the wet nurse and mad king, are similar. also remember that Gael went crazy after consuming blood of the dark soul. he became corrupted like people in blood borne go crazy after taking in blood of pygmy lords. pygmy lords are God's in the sense that they are those who possess one of the 4 original souls. blood so old it dried. key word old blood. Gael costumes old blood. forbidden blood. morphing him into a beast. sure there are hole and what it's but that just souls game lore and I'm by no means a theorist I just wanted to share my opinion.
@israelpadilla81267 жыл бұрын
tyrice m but the king is lothrics dad he became a dragon because he searched through his work and became insane almost like big hat Logan and ocelot, the baby, most likely looks like the emerald herald or yorshka and Pricilla and I'm pretty sure he gets killed by oceiros in the fight. And Gael went mad because of the dark soul. Like it's said in the video the reason he consumed it was to produce bloood for it so the painter could paint with it. The reason he consumed it was because the Pygmys didn't have any more blood since they are so old not that their blood is old and whatnot. Since everything related to the abyss corrupts whatever it touches I'm sure that's why Gael went insane, I mean look at artorias the dude was known for having a strong will but even he got corrupted by the darkened even the dragon got corrupted. While I would like for the games to be connected I don't think using the blood would be an explanation because I mean Gael dies in the ruins of the ringed city at the worlds end and no one is there anymore after you fight him and the player pretty much goes on and brings the end of the age of fire and all that.

Joe Mahaffey the first Pygmy (the furtive Pygmy) imo shared his great soul (the dark soul) to other pygmies, to almost all the humans and hollows...etc we see, we all have a part of the dark soul And breaking up a great soul is possible since Gwynn did it and gave parts of his soul to the 4 kings and seath (and his 4 knights? I don't remember exactly but you get the idea) The statue of Gwynn and a Pygmy? That could've been the furtive Pygmy, and these Pygmy kings are a direct line of his or just people who made themselves kings

It's simple man, dark souls one tells us the world began as a world of grey(grey, not gray, grey is lighter of the two), crags, trees, and dragons. But it started with a world of grey. That ash wasteland at the end of the game is grey. You kill him, give the blood to her and now she has the colors to paint a world. Her first two colors, Dark blood and Red Flame. The world starts from there, does that mean it starts over with Dark Souls 1? or is it a new Souls game and thus we shall get Demon Souls 2? Gwyn was the last person to just go through the journey you just did, and at the end when the painter asked him if she should name the world after him or not. He chose yes. He went in and lived in that new world, Grabbed the flame and handed out some chunks. Patches snatched the dark (wouldnt that be funny)Maybe you go in this new painted world and it becomes _______ souls. Thats my 2 cents. Prolly way off on some things, but I think some of it fits just too good.
