For the record, the frosty straight sword (Irythyll i think) that you get just before entering that area works wonders on the giant crabs. The frostbite debuff does massive damage (lol) and reduces its defense. So... giving the player the tool they need to beat the otherwise stupidly tough enemies of the area isn't actually terrible design. Just saying. I know its kind of contrary to the usual DS design philosophy of skill over gear, but still.

The dirty swamp crab appears to be bashing the Tear's head in and unfortunately for this graceful Tear, his usual self defense method of raining down salt upon it appears to be ineffective. How ever shall the Tear overcome the high-rank Hermitau- I mean dirty swamp crab?!

Fun fact: Since he got it early the game was still on version 1.0.0. which was the version that was made for the reviewers that is (in relation to boss and ennemies health/damage) around 20% easier. So to any people wondering: he doesn't have anything really special, the game merely did not get its "day one patch" which adjusted the difficulty.
