Maybe try a later souls game, dark souls 1 is usually harder for newcomers from my experience, even i quit it, but eventually decided to try dark souls 3, and i absolutely loved it, it's still my extremely close 2nd favourite game of all-time. I also actually ended up playing the series in reverse order but it was a still blast. DS1 does fall off quite hard in the second half, since it unfortunately had to be rushed to meat deadlines. Still better than a lot of games though.

Also i should add, dark souls 2 (the vanilla version which is also on steam, not scholar of the first sin edition which changes level design mostly for the worse) is also usually seen as easier, and while features like adaptability aren't great, levels are so cheap anyway that you can usually get it to level 25 pretty early while still focusing on other stats. And dark souls 3, while being more fast paced, is also much easier at least early on in my opinion, ramping up in difficulty at an extremely fair way as you progress imo, with the only spikes really being pontiff sulyvahn (who i didnt personally struggle with but a lot of people did) and the dlc.

And if you want to try elden ring, give it a go, now is a better time than ever to start it, and while i dont agree with it being the easiest, even if you can get to high levels early (people seem to not consider that new people often dont know every upgrade material and useful/cheesy item's location) but i tried it after finishing the dark souls series and had a great time with it.

The only thing that keeps you from becoming hollow is not giving up, if your character respawns it is for the sole purpose of making you try again, if you give up in the face of such insignificant adversities what will happen when you face bigger adversities throughout your life? at least for me Dark Souls changed my perspective on how to face problems and I hope this comment will encourage you to finish such an incredible game.

To anyone interested in tips for this sort of run. 1: obviously you have to choose pyromancer 2: do the catacombs skip after getting the spiked club to immediately get the fire upgrade as well as the right of kindling. 3: Use many easier methods for bosses such as Taurus demon, Capra demon, ceaseless discharge. 4: Early game items pillaging due to master key. Red tearstone ring and fire keeper souls, etc. 5: After Quelagg keep going through as a suicide run to get the large fire ember. 6: Contemptate suicide after dying to the Four Kings 80 times 7: Contemplate slow and painful suicide after realizing you literally have to get to NG+2 to get the Knights Honor achievement and deal with the inevitably of running it back 200% more difficult. 9: Forgot to put this earlier but Ring of Favor and Protection is a must 10: Finally beat Sif for the 3rd time and reflect on your internal pain of probably a 1000+ plus deaths and immense guilt you had to kill beautiful doggo 3 times. 11: Another thing I forgot. Rage at the Bed of Chaos's bullshit fight

Honestly, i would definitely suggest for anyone trying out ds1 sl1 runs, dont use the pyromancies unless really necessary. Learning the patterns and going through the game truly revitalises it after your first few normal runs, like the O&S fight is just genuinely beautiful when you get the hang of it, aswell as all the dlc bosses. But play the game as you will and most importantly have fun during it

I really enjoyed doing the SL1 runs, and I agree with you that it feels fantastic to get it done. If anyone is doing all the achievements I would definitely recommend using Pyro. It speeds up the process a ton, but definitely play the game in the way that maximizes fun. That's a great point

While it isnt 'easy', soul level one, and especially in the first game, actually isnt as hard as it sounds, the only hard part is being one or two-shot by a lot of things, he seems to have decided to handicap himself by not getting his axe upgraded to +5 before going to blighttown Also pyromancies in ds1 and 2 are extremely powerful

TBH I swear way too much when I'm live streaming, and I just try to break up consecutive swears with bleeps every 5ish. It can help avoid the long arm of the youtube law. Some times it's for comedic effect, other times it's for getting too creative with my swears lol

you skipped over a bunch of stuff in this, like getting a second red slab in the first playthrough which either means trading an ascended pyro glove or farming for it. Nevermind a second blue slab, I think there's only a second one in the DLC?

Both of those slabs are farmable btw. The drop chances are low, but they can be farmed. To avoid having to wait for the 2nd blue and 2nd red slab, I just dashboarded and used the same slab, it's all in the livestream vod if you'd like to watch. I just wanted to pop the achievements in NG so I could use the clips in a rapid fire montage, but realistically, it only saved about 10 minutes of running to the slab locations in NG+

@@morgansbasement fair enough, I did my achievements on PTDE and just frampt-duped the slabs in NG, but had already used my Red Slab when I did that AND managed to mess up getting a second pyro flame from Eingyi too lol

You've never heard of this game?? I'm actually surprised haha. The controls are actually really tight, and the difficulty is in learning boss patterns and timing invincibility rolls. The only bit of artificial difficulty was doing it at level 1 haha. Also, the game is close to 15 years old, so that would explain the graphics. I highly recommend the souls/bloodborne/elden ring games. I think you'd like them a ton
