Dark souls teaches to overcome fear and intimidation. Even if the boss is larger than a building you can still beat it although it is very difficult to kill them you can still retry and use different tactics. If you are planning on playing as a tank character in Dark Souls 1, I recommend acquiring a broadsword or heavy axe for the most damage potential. DS1 has poise so no having to worry about being staggered all the time, unlike in Dark Souls 3. 👌🏼

Yeah totally agree that certain builds can make the game easier or harder. part of the reason why heavy armor was nerfed so hard in later games was because you could literally sit there and tank boss hits like it was nothing. Unless you WANT to play the game on EZ mode (which defeats the purpose of playing dark souls) then most of these fights will still be intense and live up to every expectation you have about the series. A great example is his fight with Ornstein and Smough had he not been in full giants armor, that fight is wayy harder because when you get hit by either of the YOU GO FLYING and then Ornstein is all up in your face when you're desperately trying to get away and Smough waits to ambush you when you want to heal. Although I only died to them a few times, most people lose to them 20+ times before actually beating them. Don't even get me started on the Capra Demon either. I died to it so many times, it's fucking maddening. (Small ass room + Multiple Enemies + Hard hitting boss = Utter Hell) Trust me should you pick up this game it will not be a walk in the park by any means.

I'll never forget my first experiences with this game. I haven't been much of a gamer since I was a kid but I was bored with games that had gotten too easy. They would auto save constantly and there was no real penalty for dying. You'd have to redo a few minutes is all. This game forced me to get decent right from the start and taught me quickly to be patient throughout the rest. I don't think it's nearly as hard as people have made it out to be but maybe they had also just gotten used to easy games.

The concept and execution of Ornstein and smough is great I personally like Ornstein better than smough

As well you should! Smough was a pretty selfish confidant of the Dragonslayer, and it’s no wonder folks like Kingseeker Frampt hated him; if you fed Frampt Smough’s soul, you only get 1 soul to your inventory. Ornstein was a pretty trusted knight of Lord Gwyn, alongside Gough, Ciaran & Artorias; Smough may have been Ornstein’s partner-in-crime (so to speak), but he was just another thing in Ornstein’s way. Not helped by the fact that Smough liked grinding & pounding on his victims before eating them! 🤢🤢
