@@harryleeds8855 My understanding is that parrying the hollow and then activating the ladder and rolling out of the ladder animation (I believe you can see the ladder animation start for a frame or two just after the parry) triggers a flag that tells the game that his character is on the ladder even as he navigates the world. This "ladder state" persists even through the cutscene with the bird that takes you to Firelink. After he talks to the Undead Merchant and buys what he needs, he pushes himself up against the nearby barrels and then save/quits. I believe what is happening here is that because he's so close to the barrels, the game can't load him in and needs to reposition him to a "safe" place. To find that "safe" place, it looks for his most recent valid location. I believe that the game records your location by where your feet are touching what is coded as "stable ground"-but since the game still thinks he's on the ladder, he hasn't touched any stable ground since then, and so when the game looks for his position to reload him, it puts him on the ladder. As it turns out, the way the map is set up is that Undead Asylum is located above the later part of Undead Burg, going toward Andre. This is why you see him reload into midair and fall into the later part of Undead Burg. (I'm not sure why Undead Asylum isn't there when he loads back in; perhaps he has some area tag telling the game he's supposed to be in Undead Burg, and so Undead Asylum map is deloaded or something. I don't know.) This "ladder save skip" saves him a significant portion of time and I believe is the innovation that's allowed him to push the world record down so far over the past couple months.
