Dennis Werdens I found Manus much harder. Artorias, being a very humanoid boss, is much easier to dodge. Both fights are doable without taking any damage whatsoever, but I found Artorias much, much easier to dodge.

0rangekun1 yea you are right with the fact that they are doable without taking damage but my personal expirience is that artorias is harder just because of his moveset ^^ when manus starts an attack you always know what will happen like how many swings or where he will give you an opening :P artorias on the other hand has a less predictable moveset (and this is still my opinion ^^) if he starts swinging you dont always know where the road goes ^^ or if he will repeat them... its great that your expirience is different and i have to admit that artorias is in fact easier to dodge but overall i found him to be harder since i always need a second try with him :P

I did this two days ago...The only thing I would suggest is having the Fog Ring equipped as well. It help with aiming when your character isn't blocking your view.

Equip Symbol of Avarice, Gold Serpent Ring and attune the Homewardpell. Run out from the Bonfire straight to the staircase, go left up then go up one more floor and you will be right next to the first channeler, finish him then run up the nearby rotating staicase and kill the second. If no drop then cast Homeward and repeat. This means the staircases are positioned perfectly for each run. I acquired this after about half an hour using this method

If you are having trouble with Knight Artorias, try using the Black Knight Sword or any Greatsword. When he tries to do the purple/dark power up thing, thats when you dual wield the Black Knight Sword and hit him with 2 r1 attacks. He will stagger/be stunned just before finishing the power up thus canceling it out. Leads to an easier fight and lessens his vertical spin over from occurring multiple times in a row which can't be blocked successfully since he does it 3 times or so in a row.

Did this on NG+ with Dex 20, Fire Black Bow of Pharis +5, and feather arrows. Manus has 10,000+ hp and my bow was doing 13 damage. After 800 or so arrows, I got the "WEAPON IS AT RISK" message, and my damage dropped to 8 per hit. He finally went down after about 45 minutes and 900 arrows. Just wanted to let everyone know that it IS possible with a low Dex build without an Über Bow, as long as you are patient.

2016 It actually does work. Do it properly. Check videos for correct spot. Use fully upgraded long bow or black bow. He is out of range for short and composit bow even with hawk ring. You'll do very little damage. Lower HP to 20% put on red ring and hawk ring. It should not take more then 300-350 standard arrows. They never bother to patch it. Not becouse it is impossible to patch. I think they simply like to give everybody satisfaction of killing him. Some people can't do it melee. I did kill him melee few times but honestly prefer that method. For me it still takes 30-50 attempts to kill him melee. I don't get better with him just lucky sometimes. His sporadic attacks my shitty timing on pedant and me playing on PC makes him very hard to kill. Cosidering time i need to spend running to him bow is a time saver. Why for fuck sake there is no bonfire by the hardes in the game boss gate. At list in DS2 DLC's they did place bonfires next to all main story bosses.

I use the Havel Shield +5 & seem to take no damage at all from him. Guess ill have to retry a few times, but idont think hell need around 50 tries and several days later like Artorias did. Im still around Level 90 at the moment on Remastered. But oh well, have the Greataxe upgraded to +15 as well.. Hehe 👍

I was testing if it works with the really big bows such as Dragonslayer Bow and Gough's Greatbow, but I couldn't freeaim with them as I could with BBoP. Would have been much faster because my Dex is only at 18 :) Anyway, I watched a video of yours in that time and dropped a sub, because Dark Souls is awesome :D

Thanks for posting, worked a treat after a little tweaking. You need to be out of first person aiming mode for this to work and you need to aim the camera down. Once you've got the spot and you're damaging it then you just carry on hitting RB/R1. You can see his red eyes from the spot you highlight in your video. I just did this and it still works. Had a Long Bow of Pharis +10 with 20 Dex and needed around 300 arrows (feather, they do around 20 damage). Interestingly I did it before that with the same equipment and a not upgraded Pharis bow and I must have hit him lucky because I did 25 damage then. Kind of strange to see the damage going down after upgrading.

Large arrows would likely do less in this situation. The distance is VERY far, so the damage would drop off much faster for Large Arrows. Feather arrows fly faster, straighter, and have a much higher range, meaning their damage drops off much later.

To still be able to get down into the chasm where he was, spam the arrows until he has almost no health left, and then enter the fog wall. He will not regenerate his health, so one or two good hits will do him in

This still works.. Depending on items & stats.. I've never really bothered with bows up till this point. Now I'm dying so frequently on Manus that I just want him dead by any means necessary!! I'm using the Hawk Ring, Feathered Arrows & a Shortbow (seeing as I was a genius and feed any unwanted items to my flappy faced, phallic friend, Frampt) but I'm only doing about 10 damage per hit... First try: 300 arrows in, get half his HP down.. try finish off with sword.. I think all the arrows pissed him off because he slammed me down like the cheating little bitch I am.... about to try my second try.. 800 Arrows (just to be safe) and the potential to break another controller if this fails.... Wish me luck >.

It still works. I was doing 124 damage a pop with +14 Black Bow of Pharis, feather arrows, hawk ring and 40 dexterity. Then I accidentally fell into the Chasm and didn't take any damage. You can also skip the first Capra demon by just throwing fire bombs over his fog gate. You need to stand in a certain corner on the left to do it.

This fight with Manus is not too hard. As long as you keep your distance from his hand you are good. If he starts to raise his one hand, then he will go for a grab and slam move. Dodge it and then punish the shit out of him. You get like 5 secs before he either walks around a bit or trys to follow up with a claw/hand attack. I beat him on my second try due to not having Sif with me and not watching fights on him. Knight Artorias was way harder than this pushover.

I've beaten Knight Artorias on my first try, his movements are easily predictable. Manus though.. it already killed me 20 times, more than the Demon Firesage. "keep your distance from his hand" yeah but its attacking range is ridiculously long. Maybe my build is to blame, I can't use the Greatshield of Artorias and have to rely on rolls...

I did this last night, but I decided to leave him with 1 hit left, so i went through the boss fog. Still had 1 hit left, Life Hunted with scythe before his AOE spell where all the dark orbs close in center hit me. Then came Dusk. :)

I tried but couldn't do. After losing many battles with Manus, I found it easy to kill him. I didn't even get any hit. Just lock him dodge and hit. The only problem was black magic, but with good timing i was able to use pendant. He looks nasty but after u learn , it will be rewarding.

Does this indicate that all bosses are just hanging around somewhere in or around the boss room before going through the fog? I mean this is obviously true of some, but Manus was introduced by a cutscene. Before this video I wouldn't have imagined that he'd be anywhere to be found until automatically after the cutscene ended.

Well it is dark as blackest night. Still. they might have kept it there as sort af an easter egg. The did intentionally leave the ability to lure Ceaseless Discharge inte the death-box. Might be a spoil for those who get to frustrated. I know I will use it if I cnat beat Manus in one or two nights. First fight will be this night after the kids get to bed. Only WarGames Ah, one year anniversary since I posted that. XD I've come quite a ways with Souls games since then. I did eventually beat Manus "le legit" in NG++ (first two NGs left me, well, crestfallen). I returned much later on after some time with Dark Souls 2 and beat him without a shield, just lots of fast rolling in NG+++ (the number of times I died though... Dark Souls 1 and its four-directional roll dodging, gahhhh!). I last left off just having left the Asylum in NG+5 I think? I'll go back to that eventually. Right now milking Dark Souls 3 for all its worth with multiple characters until the DLC comes out (trailer for the new one looks good though I do wish it was a new location and not just an overhauled version of an older one... still as long as it retains enough surprises should be good and I like much of what I've seen in it so far).
