Resin was most commonly used as a strong adhesive in medieval times. It is a thermoset glue, meaning it has to be boiled. It's not difficult to put two and two together that what the villagers used was a cauldron or two of _boiling_ resin. Gough is blind and cannot take off his helmet *_because it's fused to his destroyed eyes and face._* Edit: On top of Gough being one of the four legendary knights of Gwyn--a demigod warrior and tactician skillful enough to have commanded scores of greatarchers and dragonslayers in times of war and still able to effortlessly shoot down a dragon blind after god knows how long he's been literally gathering dust while woodcarving. The thing about Dark Souls that I love is how it has so much depth both in its epic things as well as in its smallest ones. Like how this blind giant offers you his last act of greatness for an equally great act (the slaying of Artorius) and how he mentions the blacksmith, where you can find Gough's ring, implying that Gough either gave it to him or the blacksmith found it and kept it as a memento.

@Mister Mister most GTA titles after San Andreas were kinda boring recycled content and stereotypes from movies and other games and literature. To be fair, a lot of modern titles are. What TV I like about Dark Souls is how it tells a story with a few references and stereotypes, but presents them in an original, often challenging and even emotional way. A lot of modern games stopped doing that, and I know that Dark Souls is not the first or only title to do so.

So according to Gough Kalameet was such a dangerous enemy that Anor Londo would never provoke it. Then he precedes to shoot it down after you would have previously struggled against Ornstein, Artorias and even Ciaran (she's sort of a tank) when three of those four were no longer in their prime. Those four would have destroyed Kalameet.

More likely because at that time they were well known, and kalameet would have done a lot of collateral to oolacile in response. Note that he got used to ignoring Gough over the years, so the shot caught him by surprise.

@@rakshithanand8262 Not just Oolacile, a good chunk of Anor Londo would become blackened rock and ash. Remember dragons are both smart and vindictive in most stories, and Kalameet likely knows where Anor Londo is and what their soldiers look like from other ancient dragons. If Kalameet really wanted to, Anor Londo would look much more differently than it does now from what the lore is implying. I think Kalameet never fought in the war because he had a different thought process than the other dragons, just like Seath. Maybe Kalameet felt no kinship with other dragons, or knew just how dangerous Gwyn's knights were. Either ways his neutrality and dreaded reputation made him the last Ancient Dragon alive.

Elin la Verde well, he mentions for every dragon they lost 3 score of knights. sixty knights per 1 dragon is a steep price. sure, gwyn, nito, the witch and seathe may have taken down most of the dragons, but i think at this point nito has retired already, the witch has turned into a demon, and seathe has gone into his study. leaving only gwyn and his knights. considering kalameet keeps to himself around this area and has not assaulted anor londo, i believe anor londo has decided that its efforts are better spent elsewhere. gough does not have 59 other knights to attempt to slay Kalameet, he only has an insane artorias living in the basement, a grieving ciaran who is an assassin and no dragonslayer... and you.

By far my fav NPC ( not the most beloved , that spot is for sunbro). I feel proud i didnt kill any Gwyns knights ( except for one dragonslayer and his fat buddy). Truth is Gough and Cyaran are nothing like you would expect from legendary knights that kill dragons. They are not prideful nor arrogant or agressive. Cyaran is all about praying for his old friend and Gough is just making some woodwork...somethin so unheroic to the most heroic of characters...both remembering Artorias who was consumed with his quest. Honestly , to me , killing any of them.is the same as killing sunbro...coldhearted and cruel.

In my opinion dark souls 1 had the best story, cutscenes, and atmosphere. AND in my opinion THIS cutscene is the coolest. Really wish dark souls 2 wasn't so bland. I mean do you remember your first blind run through dark souls one? Ive never felt such a sense of adventure and terror. I felt so small and insignificant in a giant alive world. It was an incredible experience. Wish i could go back.
